Exclamation Looks like 'Hank' has Been Canceled

No official news yet, but a source of mine is saying ABC has decided to can the show.

I think the writing was on the wall when they moved the Thanksgiving episode up a few weeks. It's too bad. I actually didn't think it was that bad of a show.

All I can say is that I'm not really surprised. I do feel bad for Kelsey Grammer and the rest of the cast/crew. I hope they all find work again real soon.

They have like what, 7 or so episodes left in the can? I would love to see these remaining episodes burned off on Fridays in place of Supernanny. Maybe not even burned off, but just "moved." If ABC would give it some promotion, it may actuall prove to do well. It's not like it can do much worse than Supernanny anyways, because like you said, it really wasn't that bad of a show. Traditional, sometimes predictable, but okay.

ABC already announced that Scrubs will premiere December 1st with Better off Ted premiering December 8th. I'm guessing repeats of Modern Family or something will replace Hank.

You don't need sources to tell you Hank will be cancelled. When it only gets a 1.3 or 1.4 demo, anyone could tell you its gone.

It's really too bad because the show was finally starting to find its place and it was beginning to get really good! I guess too many people judged by the first two episodes. There's also the hipsters that hate traditional sitcoms (A laugh track? OMGNOZE!) and that brought it down as well.
I think WB made a mistake with shipping this to ABC, it should have been on Lifetime with Sherri and Rita Rocks, it would have fit right in.

Default ABC Officially Cancels "Hank"

ABC cancels Hank
November 11, 2009
By Nellie Andreeva

It’s the end of the road for “Hank.”

ABC has cancelled the freshman comedy starring Kelsey Grammer. The show is filming episode 10 and will stop production after wrapping that episode.

ABC, which has aired five half-hours of "Hank," has no immediate plans to run the remaining five segments.

For the next few weeks, the network will air a combination of comedy repeats and holiday specials in "Hank'"s Wednesday 8 p.m. time slot. (ABC already preempted the freshman comedy once for a Charlie Brawn Halloween special last month.)

Hank” was the odd duck in ABC’s all-new two-hour Wednesday comedy block as it was the only traditional sitcom in a field of single-camera series. It was mostly bashed by critics and has underperformed in the ratings in its 8 p.m. slot, kicking off the two-hour comedy block.

ABC has already picked up its other three new comedies, “Modern Family,” “Cougar Town” and “The Middle,” for a full season.

Hank” joins another ABC freshman casualty, Wednesday drama “Eastwick,” which also was recently cancelled after 13 episodes.

Hopefully they will. Hank wasn't as bad as some made it out to be. It deserved a chance to grow.

I think Hank's biggest problem was scheduling. ABC pretty much killed this show by scheduling it on night where all the other shows were one camera.

Default I can assure you...

...that "HANK" isn't going to be on next week, as the latest promo for ABC's "Comedy Wednesday" stressed all-new episodes of "THE MIDDLE", "MODERN FAMILY" and "COUGAR TOWN"...and not one word about the series that's supposed to start the evening at 8(et)....I suppose they'll "burn off" the "leftover" episodes sometime this season []. But, as I've mentioned in other posts, broadcast networks- and the conglomerates who own them- are more interested these days in the shows THEY own and/or co-produce. Any program that's produced by an "outside source" these days (including "HANK"), that isn't performing well, is expendable, and usually the first to be yanked off the air. No doubt Kelsey Grammer will be involved in another series by next season...
