Lightbulb Our House

This show, which I also read about in "my tv book" (see LGO post for details) sounded a lot like "Life Goes On," except no guy with Downs Symdrome was in it. It aired on NBC from 1986-1988 (again, opposite 60 Minutes). Deidre Hall, from Days Of Our Lives, was in it, as well as 90210's Shannen Doherty. It sounded like a good, quality family drama. Anybody remember it? Or at least know if it is still on in reruns, on video, or any of you have tapes? Thanks.

Thumbs up

Hey Mary,

Yes, Our House is still on TV. It's on PAX every Saturday at 5PM. Here's some more news on the show from the PAX website. http://www.pax.tv/shows/ourhouse/

Enjoy it(The show that is) and tell us how you like it.

I forgot to mention, yeah, I remember it. I watched it a few times but never really got into it. That's why it didn't last long! (only kidding! haha)

I watched that show!! Chad Allen from Dr. Quinn Medicine Woman was in it too. It was on Odyssey a few years back. Watched the reruns until my cable company dropped Odyssey because it wasn't showing enough Christian shows for some people's taste. I wish we had it back because they're showing Dr. Quinn and Happy Days now.

Sorry sports fans, but I painfully remember that Our House was one of the absolute WORST shows in the 80's. I was happy when it went off the air.

Talking I loved this show!

I loved this show, that's why I requested the board and I am so glad it got added.
I have only seen a few episodes but from what I saw it was a good, wholesome family show that lasted three seasons.
Deidre Hall is one of my favorite actresses and that is one of the main reasons I like it.
Unfortunately I don't have full cable right now so I don't get PAX but when I do get full cable back I am going to be sure to watch it and tape it.
It won a Good Housekeeping Seal of Approval for being a great family show. Too bad that Shannen Dougherty changed after she was in it. I liked her character on the show.
I liked Chad Allen on it and on Dr. Quinn as well.
Wilford Brimley was in it and he did a great job as the grumpy Gus.
There are probably many people out there who don't like this show, but I love it and I hope to see more people posting on here.
Have a great day!

Default I am so dumb!

I am so dumb! I just realized that those post were from 2000 even though this board hasn't been up that long. What's up with that?
Anyway, I didn't realize that the post were from when Our House was still on. I wish PAX hadn't gotten rid of it. I only saw a couple of episodes when it was on and really enjoyed it.
I was also wrong on the fact that it was on three seasons, it was only on for two. I wonder why it wasn't on longer? Deidre Hall is a great actress and to see her do something besides soap operas was nice. She really fit doing a drama.
I hope some station brings it back so I can tape it or maybe get it from someone who has the episodes already on tape.
I hope to see some other people post on here. I would really like to be able to talk to someone about Our House and Deidre Hall. Hope to see someone soon! Have a great day!

it was a very good show and imho should have lasted at least 5 seasons instead of only 2

Default It was very good!

I loved this show too. Very harmless, good family values TV with some pretty darn good actors in it.

I remember this show. I haven't seen it in years, but I liked it. My favorite character was Gus.

I used to watch this show every week. It was a very good show and if it hadn't aired opposite 60 Minutes it could have lasted a lot longer.

I wish it had lasted longer. It was on in the early 80's when I was in elementary school. I am sure if I would have known about it then, I would have definitely watched it.
Gus was a great character. He was this old grumpy, but loveable man. I have to commend Deidre Hall for playing the role of a widow with three kids. Give her anything and she will act it to death.
This show didn't get the attention it deserved. I hope PAX brings it back or maybe Hallmark Channel will put it on their lineup because they used to have Dr. Quinn and they currently have Touched By An Angel; which I absolutely love.
I think this show would be perfect for their lineup someday.

It sure would be great if Hallmark were to air it again (it was on Odyssey which is now known as Hallmark Channel). Or better yet, it should be released to DVD.
