I remember being in the audience on the second day of taping for this special, 9/20/78, at the Grand Ole Opry House. Apparently the more entertaining segments had been taped the day before, which included Lucy directing a marching band. I remember seeing Barbara Mandrell perform, along w/ a few other people, but I can't remember anything Lucy did other than walk out on stage. My mom got a few pics that night. (I guess cameras during a tv show recording were ok then.)

That next January my parents got to see a night of taping for "Carol & Dolly in Nashville", which my mom remembers beginning w/ a funny bit where Carol Burnett & Dolly Parton stood back to back in full profile, accentuating the differences in their respective endowments.

I got to see one more taping there the next spring for a Johnny Cash special, but the only thing I remember was Martin Mull doing a comedic interview w/ Johnny.

I've always wanted to see this special, hopefully they'll put in on dvd soon.
