Default Why are we all told to shove our feelings down?

I feel like humans are creatures on this earth that are least honoring of their own pain and their own feelings. We laugh at eachother, put eachother down, say "Don't cry" "Men don;t cry" "Sit still" "Being scared means you are a chicken" "get over it"

Then there is "drink this" "take this drug" "take that drug" "just eat this and eat that" or
"ignore it"

I even feel like in some of the bull**** "therapies" I experienced I was told to shove my feelings down. "Oh just eat something when you feel sad or watch TV" "Just shut the **** up and behave" or "here's a perscription pad." or my favorite "oh **** she is feeling something I guess we better call an ambulance" "those feelings aren't "safe" "

It makes me feel sometimes like God wants me and all of us on earth walk around with wounds and holes inside of us, because its normal. because its "safe".

It makes me feel hopeless sometimes. Does anyone else agree with me on this and have anything else to add?

Sure. People keep telling me "not to be such a drama queen" or "it's not all about me".

With friends like these .....

It's not healthy to bottle feelings inside, and physical and/or mental problems, like ulcers and mental illness, tend to be a consequence of doing so...

In my life, people haven't exactly treated me with the most kindness or compassion either when it comes to dealing with inner-feelings. Of course it's never a good idea to hold things in and never talk about them, but sometimes I think DOGS have more understanding and compassion than our fellow human beings tend to. I know that's been the case with a lot of my own experiences. Of course there's the old saying, "Kids are cruel," which they are -- extremely. But I think they get that cruelty from ADULTS who fail to each them any better.

Yet another reason why I am not such a huge fan of society. They like things to be "mundane" and "safe" and "healthy". But not everyone does!!!

I was raised not to cry at funerals or over anything really. It's more acceptable for girls to show emotion than it is for guys imo.
