Post Bob Barker retiring soon

Bad news. He's probably not going to go through with his 5 year contract he signed earlier this year. I'm happy for him he's retiring but they're going to replace him! It'll never last without Bob.

Here's the info...

Yeah, well that's petty. Bob was not the first host, and will not be the last. People can do just as well as Bob. I mean, I've heard that Dennis James did a very good job and was just as good as Bob. I've heard that Tom Kennedy was wonderful, and I've heard that Bill Cullen did great on the earlier version. Bob, as much as we want to think he isn't, is replacable.

No one hit me, but I never cared much for him. But, he's become such a legend that TPIR will definitely be different without him.

I guess we'll see what happens. A lot of people don't like change--especially after 30 years. Bob Barker has been on that show for 30 years and for an audience to get used to a new host isn't going to be easy.

8 words to keep in mind....The new Price is Right with Doug Davidson!

Same here. He's not my favorite either but I would say he's the most recognizable game show host of the 20th century. I just don't see The Price is Right without him. There was talk years ago the show would end when he retired but not anymore I guess.

Marc isn't in the running at all, he just wishes he were. Todd Newton isn't in the running, either, or at least from what I've heard, that's just Steve Beverly's fantasy. However, Brad Garrett HAS surfaced as a possibility, and Tom Burgeron seems like a logical replacement. He's doing Hollywood Squares, so he's in the public eye. Tom is energetic, he is great with the contestants, so we'll see what happens. I think Tom would be a very adequate replacement.

NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

(on all accounts)

Don;t wanna see Bob go. Wouldn't be the same (although some of it would still be there)

Not Davidson, please not Davidson. I hate the way he hosted TNPiR.

Now that I hear about Bergeron, I think he'd be pretty good.....I CAN see him hosting the show...

I hope they don't replace Bob. I can't imagine anyone else doing TPIR, but Bob.

Eddie: Well listen-- I went out for basketball and I got my hair pulled, and my mother made ME quit.

Dudley: It's not that I was afraid of getting hurt or anything; it's just that-- well, it's kind o' hard to play the flute with a busted finger.

There were other hosts, such as Bill Cullen,in the original version, as well as Arlene Francis, Don Pardo, Jack Narz, perhaps Merv Griffin as fill-ins. Dennis James, Tom Kennedy, and Doug Davidson did nighttime versions, during the Bob Barker era

Dennis was a little tough to get used to -- we were so used to seeing Bob 5 days a week, and when I was younger it was tough to understand why we got Dennis once a week. There was once a daytime episode when Bob was ill and Dennis filled in, BTW.

Tom Kennedy did a very good job with the 80s nighttime version, but he came to the show with plenty of experience, unlike Doug Davidson, who was probably a mistake.

My personal preference for Bob's replacement would be Chuck Woolery, but I'm sure CBS is going to want to go with someone a little younger. Tom Bergeron annoys me to no end, so I hope it isn't him. The real problem is that there are so few game shows these days that there aren't as many experienced hosts around, unlike the 70s.

That's very true. And it seems like all the new guys they get suck (I'm looking squarely at Louie Anderson for starters...)

Bob wont retire this year. Another 3-4 years is good. I hope he hosts it until he is 92. He'll live longer than Bob Hope.

Trust Me.

I rather see Dick Clark as host myself because him and Bob have about the same personality. Chuck should also be on CBS witha new version of NOW YOU SEE IT, Tom Bergeron should host CARD SHARKS,and John Hurley should host this all-new version of PASSWORD i made

Rod Roddy is currently off the show, due to major surgery, and if Bob steps down, and Rod doesn't come back(for some reason), the show will probably go even more down the tubes

Rod Roddy has returned to tapings of The Price is Right and has taken back his job as announcer. Episodes featuring Burton Richardson should be on until January of next year. Also, next January, a special that I've heard will probably air in primetime will be taped on location in Las Vegas.
