Lol Browns fans to protest the ongoing Browns-ness of the Browns

http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/blog/shu...urn=nfl,199152

Fri, Oct 30, 2009 1:15 am EDT

On Nov. 16, the Cleveland Browns are hosting a Monday night game against the Baltimore Ravens. It will likely be an ugly game, because that's what the Browns do, and they will likely lose. One Browns fan is fed up with the fact that these are already foregone conclusions.

A fellow who calls himself "Dawg Pound Mike" is organizing a protest for that night, and he's trying to get fans to stay out of their seats for the opening kickoff. He'd like fans to stay in the parking lot, in the concourse or wherever, so long as when the ball is kicked, they are not in their seats (more info on the protest here, at Dawg Pound Mike's website -- hope you like Caps Lock).

From the AP:

Sickened by the nearly constant losing since the NFL team’s return in 1999, Randall hopes the sight of empty seats for the start of the nationally televised Monday night game will send a loud message to owner Randy Lerner and club officials that fans have had enough.

“We’re tired of losing,” the 39-year-old Randall said. “We’re tired of the booing, of seeing fans leave in the fourth quarter. There are fans who have had tickets for 30 years who are turning their seats in because they can’t take it anymore. So many fans are fed up.”

You know Browns fans are serious when they're talking about missing kickoff. That's one of the few plays in any given game where they're not trailing.

I kid, I kid. I completely understand your frustration, Browns fan. The Browns are 1-6 this year, and have had exactly two winning seasons since they returned to the NFL in 1999. That's a great big steaming pile of futility. Any fan would have the right to be upset.

As someone who generally supports the idea of quality football, I support the protest. It's not that it will accomplish anything tangible -- it's not like ownership will see the protest and think to themselves, "Whoa whoa whoa ... what's this? You want us to get better football players? You want us to win games? By golly, that's a splendid idea! By how many shall we beat the Ravens this evening? Is 35 good for you? Perfect. We'll do that."

But that's not the point. Sometimes, when you've been let down, hurt, disappointed and ticked off so many times, you just need to know that you're being heard. You want someone to acknowledge that yes, they recognize and understand your frustration, and they're trying to do something about it.

It's about forming a collective voice, and making sure it's heard. Best of luck with your protest, gentlemen.

Cool

Can't blame the Brown's fans for being frustrated. They've been amongst the most longsuffering fans in sports and haven't been rewarded for it. And even though this protest probably won't accomplish anything I applaud the fans in Cleveland for taking a stand.

Even though I'm not really a fan of any of Cleveland's professional sports teams I agree that the people of Cleveland deserve a champion. They have been patient and faithful fans of all their teams for a very long time and deserve to be rewarded. Lebron James and The Cavaliers are probably Cleveland's best hope for a championship at the moment.

The Cavs won last night, but yeah, that's the biggest reason why I've boycotted football.

If there's a Facebook Fan Page for this protest, then I'm in! Looks like the fans won't mind if these 'Browns' would move elsewhere.

45 years without a Championship and only one since Colavito left Cleveland in 1960.

The Browns just SUCK but other teams have been horrible the past few yearss too like the Lions and the Rams. The Raiders are right stinking up the joint with this gang of losers!

But having NFL football is better than no NFL football because it is the number 1 sport in America by far.

LOL@the Browns getting shut out by the Ravens hahahahahahahahahaha. I don't even know why the Browns fans even bother to show up to their home games. It's a waste of money and time watching these losers. The Browns name should be changed to clowns hahahahahahahahahaha.

Catlover79, i'm not impressed with the Cavs record so far. Did you know Milwaukee is leading the division? How is that possible? They suck worst than the Cavs LOL. Brandon Jennings has been impressive so far for the Bucks. Mike Brown should be fired i think because he doesn't know how to coach. What did the Cavs get Joe Smith for last season since they let him go again? He's now with the Hawks. Mike Brown didn't play him at all i think against Orlando in the playoffs last season and they could've used him in that series. The Cavs also should've kept Damon Jones because he was a good shooter. The last few years he was with the Cavs, Mike's b*tch ass didn't play him at all that much. You see what he did against the Washington Wizards about 3 years ago when he hit the game winning jumpshot in the playoffs in the last game. Jamario Moon and Anthony Parker of the Cavs suck this year and their bench is wack. LOL@Anderson Varaejo getting dunked on by Dwayne Wade a few weeks ago hahahahahahahahahahaha. Some people believe Lebron is gonna leave Cleveland after this season but i don't think so. I think he'll retire a Cavalier but management needs to get him some better teammates and when Shaq comes back from his injury, Mike Brown needs to play him a lot more.

LeBron James said he's like to play for the Browns if he could as a TE or something and at 6'8" he could only help them! The Browns and Lebron should seriously try to work something out for at least a few exhibition games next year and see how it goes!
