It was always a lot of fun to see what was behind the boxes and curtains, and of course, to see what the big deal of the day was!!!

I'd fall into that category. I remember watching it on the family channel years ago. I also watched the new version in the early 90's on NBC--9am I believe--back to back with Full House! And Monty is on search for a NEW host for the updated version next year! Without Monty, it'll flop but it's worth catching I think!

I remember watching that show on The Family Channel in the early 90's. They showed a bunch of old game shows on The Family Channel. I loved watching Let's Make a Deal, Press your Luck, and all the other shows that they showed.

Dudley: Well, I went out for football, but I got my finger stepped on, so my mother made me quit. Eddie: Well listen-- I went out for basketball and I got my hair pulled, and my mother made ME quit. Dudley: It's not that I was afraid of getting hurt or anything; it's just that-- well, it's kind o' hard to play the flute with a busted finger. [Eddie and Lumpy suppress laughter] |

When it was on the FAMILY CHANNEL, I was surprised when I first saw that they also had the syndicated 1971-77 version, after they got through with all the episodes from the 1984-86 version

I liked the 1975-76 episodes the best, because, they had a more classy set, flashing lights on the doors for THE BIG DEAL, and the music was played with a Waa-waa peddle on the guitars, and had better beats with the drums. I also like the Las vegas episodes

I don't remember seeing many of the 70s episodes, but I do remember the 80s syndicated revival, which I thought was pretty good.

By watching "Let's Make a Deal" I learned some serious rules. If Monty offers you a lot of money, for god sakes, KEEP IT! IF Monty shows you half of what's behing the curtain, do NOT take it because it might be a ZONK! Monty Hall really knew how to trick you, so a wise person who's hip with the rules better watch out! He might give you a gag prize.

Another treat is how much things used to cost 30 years ago. When contestants were guessing the price of a loaf of bread, I thought .50 cents would be a great guess. Boy was I surprised to learn that it was .95 cents. Yes, I realize that they use the mfg suggested retail price, but you can find a loaf for less mullah today if you shop around

I too loved Let's Make A Deal, it was cheesy but a lot of fun. We don't have the digital cable upgrade so I don't get Game Show Network. What seasons does GSN show? I remember USA showing reruns (although edited) from the 84-85 season and a few from the 70-71 season. The only thing that I didn't like was during the 84-85 season they would sometimes offer the same car or whatever like 3 times during the show. (I guess they didn't have the budget like other big shows to offer different cars) Also, on the pricing games, it was often VERY difficult to win the car or boat or whatever was being offered because the last prize would be like some fairly expensive item, but Monty would only give you live a $1 to $5 spread to get it right. (The best thing was to always take the "sure thing" on a car deal in a pricing game) or hope you "struck lightning" with a car behind a curtain. I liked the "Big Deal of the Day" also. All in all, LMAD was a pretty cool show!
