That's just absurd. Of course they're going to hire an experienced actress. Patty Duke won the Oscar for playing the part, and she's neither deaf nor dumb. Jane Wyman and Holly Hunter also won Oscars for playing mutes. It's a play that calls attention to the disability, they really shouldn't be whining.
