Default Stripping

We got a thread about pot, and prostitution so why not a thread about stripping.

What you guys think of people who do this??

Would you go in a strip bar???

Have you been in one, and what did you think???

well I personally wouldn't do it because I'm not much of a dancer.

If the person doing it can handle this occup. then I don't see why not. Also depends on the context and the extent of the stripping.

It's a dark seedy world and can lead to misery. About a dozen years ago, I had a friend who was an aquaintance with an "exotic dancer". I was never quite sure how much she revealed. She was blonde and gorgeous. She was also happily married and attendiing college. I didn't know her, but I saw her at a various events through our mutual friend. She and her husband had decided that she would do this work for a few years, until they could buy their home and she could get her degree. After work one night, a couple of guys followed her home, raped and bludgeoned her to death in the parking lot. It was a horrific death, and she fought hard for her life.

Oh, I've been to a few such establishments in my life.
It is a bar after all.
I got that out of my system a long time ago.

Over the years i have known a few women in that line of work.

A job is a job IMO.

OMG, Janice, that is awful! I'm so sorry to hear about that. And you're right, while the actions themselves may not be so much, they are exposed to a dark underworld.

One of my friends from highschool worked as a stripper over the summer. She didn't mind it and made good money. I told her I'd never do it, but if it made her happy, it was really none of my business.

If a woman wants to do this its up to her. I can understand since one can make good money at this.

The clientel isnt always the best. From obnioxous frat boys to guys constantly hitting on them. My guess is a woman would have to have nerves of steel to do this.

I have been to a few stripbars in my time, but I would not go to a place like this on a regular basis. I can think of other ways to spend my money.

Same here. I don't pass judgement on stripping from a moral standpoint; more of a safety issue with me. I know women get raped and killed who don't strip, yet I think when you've got guys who are violent minded, then add booze and nude woman, it often makes for a sad outcome. Also, some women don't have anyone to protect them and fall victim to nasty characters. They fall into a dangerous world and can't get out.

I think if the woman is ok with doing it and the place she works at provides security then I'm ok with it. Diablo Cody said in an interview that during stripping days she and others were advised not to use their real names and to give out numbers or anything personal to customers. My brother had a friend who worked as a security guy at a strip club.

Diablo Cody can't possibly be her real name. It sounds like such a classic stripper name.

Totally off topic, but anyone ever play the stripper name game? You take the name of your first pet, and the street you grew up on. I'd be "Snow Catalpa."

I say as long as you are aware of the risks in getting involved and know what you are getting into then fine.

I'm acquainted with some strippers (exotic dancers) from the club scene.

Yes, I've been around to them before. Hustler Club in NYC is one of them.

For the record I'm against stripping because I think it objectifies the performer. I feel people should be treated like people not like objects.
