Amtrack train derailment

Hi people.

Since most of the topics on top are mentioned and discussed for many times, I thought I would start another topic that hasn't been mentioned on these boards.

Does anyone have any theories or speculation about what happened to the Amtrak train that derailed in Arizona. I tried to search on this forum and on newspapers, but I had no results.

I believe it had to have been someone with working knowledge of railroads, possibly a former engineer. A note near the wreckage signed "Sons of the Gestapo" claimed responsibility for the sabotage. The FBI looked into it and found no such group. I believe the group exists, but is a secretive, independent group composed of terrorists scattered around the country somewhere, keeping their group name secret. I doubt the case will ever be solved because the FBI didn't have any solid, scientific evidence that can link anyone to the sabotage (no prints, no DNA, no tool marks, etc).

I wonder if this could have been an employee who was peeved at the railroad? The police/feds seemed to think the letters found were a red herring. At least that was mentioned in the segment.

1. If a terrorist group wanted to committ mass destruction they could have done more damage than this. They could easily have blown the train up as well.

2. I think the group would have done other acts than just the derailment. Especially since they haven't been caught yet.

3. Derailment is a pretty easy thing to do if you have enough knowledge of trains and how they work.

4. I think this guy was a former railroad employee who knew about the previous crash and wanted to make a personal statement. The Sons of Gestapo probably means that this person has some racist views that he's been harboring.

5. I think the reason this guy hasn't been found is that he worked for a railroad company that is far from Arizona. Heck he may work for NYC Metro North.

6. I wonder if the Kingston militia that Timothy McVeigh was part of can be linked to this guy?

I have been looking for further info about this recently. I seem to recall the basis for rail employee theories- no average Joe could figure it supposedly- but, nope, never seemed to pan out. One newspiece in my local (Southern Nevada) paper said that investigators were chasing down subscribers to a train hobbyist magazine, I think? Anyone know more about that?

You mean Kingman, as in Kingman, AZ. There was a racist group there in the 90's that supposedly McVeigh had visited once or twice. Actually there was a book written by McVeigh's attorney that goes into detail about the Kingman connection, the militias, and some Philipino Islamic terrorists that were connected to Terry Nichols. It is some interesting reading and the guy makes a strong case that McVeigh had an organized group behind him and that he was the guy intended to take the fall.

But as for the train derailment, I haven't seen the segment in so long I don't remember much about it, but from what has been posted here, it sounds like an ex-employee and not a terrorist.
