It's a MUST in life, otherwise it's only hurts you in the long run.

Take it from someone who's had to forgive......a lot.

Like it or not, you got to forgive

For one you were forgiven, and also if you hold a grudge or evil will towards someone, all you will end up doing is making yourself misreable because your anger will end up controlling you.

That said, that dosent mean you have to forget or be friends again with a person that did you wrong. A betrayal is a serious thing with me, and when someone betrays me, they are not so easily welcomed back in my inner circle.

Remember the best revenge is to live well.

I have a hard time with forgiveness. There are few people I won't forgive because the things they did were really bad. But I'm the type to hold a grudge for a long time.

I think it's important to forgive others and yourself. If the person you forgive is someone you want to keep in your life, someone who's generally good to you, you also have to forget.

I think the ability to forgive is a great attribute and it takes a load of weight from the wronged person's mind as well. I have to admit, though, that I find it hard to forgive if the person who has treated me badly doesn't apologise.

If they apologise, I'll easily forgive them and don't bear a grudge, but if they don't apologise, I find it difficult to forgive them.

Forgiveness can ONLY be obtained in direct relation to the administering of a suitable punishment. Not to punish is to condone.

Forgiveness?

It's overrated.

i'm pretty sure i forgive people way too easily. i have a "friend" who is constantly sending me abusive text messages and calling me terrible names (calling me a worthless sack of...yeah, saying i should die and burn in hell) whenever i say something that he doesnt like, and yet every time i wind up forgiving him and acting like nothing ever happened. but then every week or so it starts over again. its getting to the point where its too much and im thinking that maybe its just not worth it to have him as a friend anymore (especially since he hasnt even apologized for his last rant). i feel bad because the kid obviously has some issues but i dont think i can take having such a negative person in my life anymore.

This person is abusive and could possibly turn violent. I would faze him out of my life and block his number. And don't feel bad about it! Helping him overcome his issues isn’t your responsibility. Everyone has some kind of challenge in their life.

You are EmoJoe to cut that friend out of your life. I have been in similar situations with relatives and friends who I don't speak to anymore.
