Sometimes, the places we live in are well-known for some famous foods.
What foods from your area are well-known? I'll start off with a few examples: Janice, being from Boston, is familiar with these famous Beantown-area products- Cream Pie, Baked Beans, and New England Clam Chowder. As for me- I live in Wisconsin, which is well known for its dairy products (it's nicknamed the Cheese State for a reason), and the place I used to call home, Buffalo, is where the chicken wing originated. |

Not sure if there is a particular dish Michigan is famous for, but most people think of fruits like apples, cherries, and blueberries when they think of Michigan.

Toronto in particular isn't really known for anything special, but in general, you can't beat our back bacon!!! (and it isn't just a thin slice of ham like it is in the States, it's quite different than that.)

Only the Utica/Rome area of New York knows what Chicken Riggies are...and they are AWESOME. They're my favorite food in the world. It's a shame more people don't know what it is. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chicken_riggies
Here's a pic. You might think you've had something similar, but trust me it's not the same unless you get it from around here. (usually there's not shrimp chillin in it like this one, but you get the idea.) |
