7th season DVD?

Does anyone know if the 7th season DVD is going to be released? I'm concerned that Sony might have abandoned the show, and the 6th season is the last one we will get.

All in the Family?, The Jeffersons?, The Facts of Life?, Barney Miller?, Maude?, One Day at a Time?, Different Strokes????? The question should be if Sony doesn't care about finishing off so many classic shows, why don't let Shout Factory or M.P.I have access to them?

It seems someone gripes about Sony every week on this board. Apparently, this company is not aware of Sitcomsonline!

I wrote a letter to the CEO of Sony Pictures months ago, see address below:

inquiring about this? I have NOT received a response to my mailed letter.

I suggest you all pass this name and address to others and flood Sony Pictures with mail about this.

FOX has done the same with The Mary Tyler Moore Show. They just released season 5 after several years of not releasing a season. The same reason was given as I have heard about All in the Family; "the DVD's haven't sold well enough to make it profitable for them to continue producing the remaining seasons."

It is unbelievable, that the best comedies on TV from the 1970's are not going to be released while the trash comedies of today are!

The only other place to get the remaining seasons is from a bootleg online seller, which because of the nature of DVD-R/+R, etc. may make them unplayable on your DVD player. VHS, though it was analog and inferior in picture quality almost 99% of the time did not suffer from incompatibility as does DVD.

The sad thing is, most people in today's society have been brainwashed into liking the all the garbage that's on tv nowadays. TV shows now are vulgar and have no substance, this especially goes for reality tv. The tv shows from the 1970's are underappreciated gems.

Dont forget the TV shows from the 50's and 60's. Those are the real classics.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Actually, I was under the impression they were going to follow up with season 7 after the re-releases of seasons 1-6 in more compact packaging. I also initially heard the same was going to happen with The Jeffersons, but I haven't seen them re=released yet. Maybe 2010? Who knows?

They should at least produce a limited quantity if they're worried about not selling enough of them. At least then we could buy them.

The only way to insure that Sony and other studios know there is interest in any TV show is for people to write the studios in large numbers.

It has always worked for Star Trek.
It saved Star Trek from cancellation after season 2 in 1967-68 (although NBC got even and put ST in 10 PM Friday night time slot only to cause most of the original behind the scenes people, like good writers and producers to move on to other projects and make ST season 3 not very good).

ST write in campaigns got ST the animated series, plus a syndicated version of new episodes sans Leonard Nimoy, called Star Trek Phase II. It was in pre-production when Paramount saw the success of Star Wars and turned Star Trek in to movies. But, it showed interest in Star Trek that begat the Next Generation, Deep Space Nine, Voyager, Enterprise and the latest film Star Trek (2009).

In 1976 ST fans wrote President Ford and got him to overrule NASA to name the first constructed space shuttle, Enterprise, instead of Constitution.

What I am pointing out is that these and all other web message boards are good, but writing complaints here will not get the TV shows on DVD.
We all must write (old fashioned mail) to studio executives to show there is a market for the classic TV shows.

Warner Brothers has a web site for some "custom" order titles.
I wish all the studios would follow WB example.

Ironically, it is now Sony, which owns studio content. Back in the early days of the VCR, Universal & Disney were suing Sony because the Betamax allowed people to record their TV shows and claimed that would be a loss of studio revenue. Today, Sony, and the other studios, because of low sales figures aren't releasing many classic TV shows in their entirety. So, then I ask you, what value does any of these unreleased TV shows have to Sony and the other studios? The longer they don't release them, the less valuable the TV show will become.

As one poster said, it's better to make some money than none. But, as I am in the video post production business, I know it costs a lot of money, (if the studio hasn't already done so) to transfer film to digital video tape or digital files. And it costs money to author the DVD's. In fact, more processes and cost go into producing a DVD master than a CD master, yet many DVD's are priced less than a CD!
