Wink Favorite Game Show(s)

It could be just shows that you just love, or shows that were cool, but you also played on the computer or on board games at home as well. What are some of your favorites, and why? Explain some of your favorite segments, or parts of these favorite shows of yours as well (if you wish).

I always loved Family Feud, $100,000 Pyramid (and all the rest of the $ Pyramid shows that were very similar). I'll think up more later. What about you?

Game shows can be broken into 2 categories, those that require some degree of intelligence. twenty one, 64,000 dollar question, Jeopardy, etc and those just for pure fun.

To go back in time, some of my favorite pure fun shows were beat the clock, where the contestant had a certain amount of time to complete the task, dollar a second and treasure hunt. Both had Jan Murray as MC and he was great. Mike Stokey had two shows, Pantomine quiz, where you had to give clues about a person, song or whatever without a word spoken, and masquerade party, where a star dressed up as a character, disguised their voice and you had to guess the identity. Garry Moore and I've got a secret was loads of fun as was name that tune with George Dewitt.

Truth is that they don't make game shows like they did. Small prizes but much fun. What's my line was on for a million years and the top prize was 50 bucks. Had a unbelievable rating.

Harvey

I was a big fan of the Pyramid shows, too, but Jeopardy has always been my favorite.

There was a great weekday game show on ABC when I was a kid, titled "Split Second". Tom Kennedy was the master of ceremonies. In each show, three contestants answered general knowledge questions. At the end of the show, the winner got a chance to turn the ignition key in one of five brand new cars on the stage. If the engine started, the contestant won the car. If the engine didn't start and the same contestant won the game for consecutive days, one of the cars would be eliminated each day, increasing the chances of picking a winner. It was a very cool show.

I like shows that make you think - that's why my favorite game show today is "Jeopardy!"

I don't care if The $64,000 Question/Challenge and Twenty-One were rigged or not - those were two of the greatest game shows ever to air on TV in ANY decade. I'd love to see those kind of shows again.

Same here, even if Alex does sound like a know-it-all sometimes.

Man, you guys are bringing back some memories for me!!

I used to watch Joker's Wild, Concentration(I used to have the home game!!), Tic Tac Dough, Pyramid, What's My Line, To Tell the Truth, Family Fued(with Richard Dawson, even though I read that he hated hosting that show, I still think he was the best host out of all the hosts they've had). I also remember watching Truth or Consequences.

Anybody remember Press Your Luck? I HATED that show!! Couldn't watch it, with all those stupid whammys.

I forgot about a whole bunch I used to watch -

Match Game(the ones with Gene Rayburn as host, Brett Somers, Charles Nelson Reilly, Fannie Flagg, Nipsey Russell as contestants)

Hollywood Squares(with Peter Marshall as host, and the great hilarious Paul Lynde as the center square). I couldn't even watch the newer version.

Name That Tune
Face the Music
Password
The Newlywed Game

Sorry, I loved all these shows!!

I still want to see the Password Plus (when Bert Convy hosted) episodes when the Barney Miller cast appeared one week in early 1988. Representing the BM cast were Hal Linden, Max Gail, Ron Carey and...GREGORY SIERRA!!!!!!

Incredible Games (another British children's game show)

Jeopardy! - Always #1 for me.

And of course, other shows fade in and out of my interest from time to time. Right now, the rest of my Top 10 goes like this.

2. The Price Is Right (Barker/Kennedy/Carey)
3. Wheel of Fortune (mostly for its pre-2000 era)
4. Press Your Luck
5. Match Game (1990-91 version)
6. Family Feud (Richard Dawson)
7. Family Feud (Ray Combs)
8. Password Plus
9. To Tell The Truth (1990-91 version)
10. $100K Pyramid (1985-88 version)
