Why is it that football players can play in the snow and rain, but baseball has to be called off if there's rain?

Good question, and I don't know that. Probably because they consider football is be more of a general, tougher sport.

Reasons are is because the players are on dirt and it can get slicky.

Also, when they throw the ball it puts pressure on the arm as the rain hits it, especially the pitchers. And sometimes the rain can get in your face and it's hard to see the ball come towards you if you are a batter or one of the fielders.

Football players have helmets where the rain will just run off the helmet as it protects their eyes and the football is a bit bigger than the baseball.

I think baseball requires more skill while football is just a bunch of big guys running after each other to catch a ball.

It's more dangerous for baseball players. Pitchers are on a clay mound and the rain isn't good for their pitching arms. Batters have to run in dirt, so it's very easy to slip and injure themselves.

Football is played in grass, which isn't as bad. There's no dirt either.

Also, baseballs are thrown at 90 MPH by pitchers. I know some QBs throw the football really fast, but it's still not that fast, and not even close to as fast as a pitcher would throw it in baseball. Really, what do QBs throw it, 20-30 MPH really?

Probably faster than that, but certainly no where near 90 MPH. They also throw the ball much further. At my peak, I could throw a ball around 50 yards(most pros hit around 60-65). It's much harder to throw a football.

Yeah probably. Yeah true. I was around the same speed as you. Yeah but in football you're just throwing a fastball. Sure it's harder to grip, even though in baseball in the cold it's hard as well, and bigger, but baseball, or football- try throwing a knuckleball, curveball, etc.

Plus football players have all that protective gear whereas baseball players just have helmets; and that's only when they are at bat or if they are catching. My brother used to have a picture of Nolan Ryan all battered (to put it nicely) after being hit in the face with a baseball during a game. Yuch! It looks like it hurt a lot! It's a gross picture, honestly, so I won't post it here.
