Post Fannie Flagg and "Match Game PM"

Why doesn't anyone like her?
Everybody calls her a man!She was married to Dick Sargent in the 70's(I saw them on "TattleTales")!I loved her shirts on MGPM!
Like just last night on GSN the first one that came on at 8 central she gave a rotten answer and she saif "You can't say no to the Flagg!" then stood up,turned around,to reveal a picture of the American "Flagg" on it!
And she was so funny! So to all you who hate her please check her over!

Wasn't Dick Sargent gay? or was that the other Darren.

Talking

I remember that Tattletales. I don't think they ever said anything about Fannie and Dick being married, just friends.

But I love Fannie too. She was hilarious!

I'd guess Fried Green Tomatoes, since it became a movie.

Dick Sargent was gay, however, he did not reveal that fact until the last few years of his life. At the time that the "Tattletales" episode took place, the public did not know about Dick Sargent's sexual orientation. Fannie Flagg and Dick Sargent were never married. My guess is that he made this appearance with her on Tattletales to provide "cover" for himself (but again, that's just speculation on my part). One interesting piece of trivia: Although Dick York was the first Darrin Stevens on "Bewitched", Elizabeth Montgomery and her husband William Asher (the show's producer) originally wanted Dick Sargent to play the role right from the start. He was unavailable (I forget why), so Dick York got the part. Years later, when York had to leave the show due to poor health, Dick Sargent was once again asked to play the role, and this time, he was able to do it.

I doubt it was his intent to supply "cover" for himself. I, instead, believe it was just something that worked out that way. Neither Fannie nor Dick were married, and on several occassions they had friends instead of couples.
