Lightbulb I have an idea that I think could be very popular, and interest many!!!

I was just thinking today about why I've been taking so many breaks from this great site over the past several months?? It's been partly due to health problems, personal problems, and some crap I've gotten involved with on the boards had the most to do with it, but another HUGE factor of it is that I don't have the passion for it that I once had. The threads with exceptions have been redundant, and I've just found the site boring at times since I returned from my 1 year hiatus. I came up with an idea though that I think could be popular, and an idea which would most definitely have me visiting everyday again like I use to. That idea is that you give every member their own Blog to write, kind of like myspace has. Now I know that you wouldn't be able to let members blog everyday because it would most likely take away from people posting on the boards, but if you let them post a new blog every two weeks, it wouldn't affect the boards at all. Well, it might actually get the boards more active since I'm sure many casual posters would visit much more often to see if their friends had new blogs. You could put a little circle next to each person's username, and have the circle turn red for a few days to indicate that a person has a new blog written. You could even have an option where you can pick people who you would like to be notified of through email whenever one of your friends puts up a new blog. You could also have an option to let a person allow people to respond, an option to not let people respond, as well as an option to be able to delete certain message incase someone says something rude, or out of line. You could even have an option that lets people rate your blog, which you could also turn off incase you don't want people rating them. I know many people are probably thinking, "why have a blog when you can just write what you want on the boards". The answer to that is simple, there are certain bored rules and etiquette that we don't want to break, but many people will feel a little freeier in what they say in their blogs. There are certain things I would never get into on the boards. I also think having a blog would give people something to look forward to, it would allow the chance to write as much as you want, you could talk about your week, and all the good, and or bad things you went through, you name it. There have been so many posts I've written in the nearly eight years that I've been here that I've edited, or cut way short because It just didn't feel comfortable for me to post. One time I wrote a long ass post on the politics board and was like shoot, I have about three times more stuff I want to say. Anyway, if you're not interested in this idea, I'll be disappointed, but I'll accept your decision, I just had to share this with you, because I know that it'll bring my old spark for this board back, and I have a feeling it will bring that spark back for others as well. You do such a great job, and I've got so much respect for you, but I just want to be honest with you. In the past several months I've had five members tell me that they're just bored with the site right now. Please don't be offended, I think alot of it is due to people missing some of the legends who have left us, some just find it redundant, and are having trouble coming up with original threads, myself included, and I believe that adding something new like a blog would be good because it would bring something new to the site, and the blogs would definitely bring back some originality, and make things feel less redundant. Please consider it TJ, and if you do decide to do it, I'll help in anyway I can, and share any ideas that may come to me. Thanks for reading this, and I hope you'll consider my idea!!

On some other boards I am a member of they have been starting the blog feature you speak of.

Some members use it ALL the time and others, like myself, casually write in it.

I'm not opposed to it but if it happens I don't know how often I'll use as I hardly use the ones that I have elsewhere.

I have a blog on an Audrey Hepburn site but I rarely use it. However, this is a great idea. I agree that a lot of the threads on the board lately have been redundant, which is why I try to search to make sure an identical thread hasn't been started before starting a new one. Doesn't always work, since sometimes there are SOOOO many, but sometimes I've even found the answer that I was looking for, simply by bringing up old posts.

Yeah, I'm not going to mention their names on the boards, because I think that's very disrespectful, and I don't think they'd like that.
