There have been a lot of game show hosts over the years that have either acted or appeared on TV shows. Four examples I can come up with off the top of my head are:
Richard Dawson- Hogan's Heroes, Laugh-In, The Running Man (he kicked butt in that movie!) Bob Barker- Happy Gilmore Monty Hall- twice on the Odd Couple as himself Allen Ludden- The Odd Couple too well, now that I think of it, Richard was on The Odd Couple as well. Anyway, can you think of any more hosts that have either guested on TV shows or were in movies, and which game show host do you think is the best actor? Richard wins my vote, obviously.

Regis has been in quite a few TV shows (usually as himself) and was recently in Adam Sandler's film, Little Nicky. Bert Convy has acted quite a bit. He was in The Cannonball Run with Burt Reynolds and Hero At Large with John Ritter, as well as several TV movies.

I'm thinking Vanna White on Full House played as a test administrator for taking the SAT. In this episode DJ needs to take the SAT. This is towards the end of the show.
Peter T. and Larry Toffler also starred as actors as well in a small role (minor parts). Bob Eubanks in a sitcom not sure which one in Newlywed Game (BTW..the 25 pt bonus answer that the couple missed was the word "Face". She tried to give him hints to get the right answer). Gene Rayburn was a guest star on "The Love Boat" Chuck wollery on "CHiPs" "The Love Boat" Bert Convy on "Hawaii Five-O" twice played as a bad guy. He also stared in movies as well such as "Dallas Cowboys Superstar" |

Art Fleming, the original Jeopardy host did some episodic TV
parts - mostly on hour-long drama shows. If I'm not mistaken, he did a "STARSKY & HUTCH" in the 70's, or some other show of that ilk. I recall seeing it, but I'm fuzzy as to which show it was. Also, Larry Blyden was very prolific. He had two series - "Harry's Girls" and "Joe & Mabel." He also did a lot of Broadway work, and did a couple of "Twilight Zone" episodes. Allen Ludden also did a lot of Broadway. Richard Dawson was mentioned above, but he also did season #3 of "The New Dick Van Dyke Show." Speaking of Dick Van Dyke, he had a game show in the fifties called "Mother's Day." Dick Martin was a game show host in the 70's. He also acted on the early episodes of "The Lucy Show." |

Richard Dawson also worked on the New Dick Van Dyke Show later in the show's run.
Bert Convy was a guest star on Murder She Wrote at least once as well. |
