Of course, Kelsey Grammer has a new series called HANK, but
in the sixties, NBC had a show of the same name. I have ONE episode (the debut episode). I'd love to get MORE of the sixties show. Anyone have more than episode 1??? |

I have 2 others. None color though, although other than the pilot the rest of the show was shot in color. I've never seen a color print of it anywhere. Even the Library of Congress, which has a couple of episodes, has them in black and white. One of the rarest shows of the decade. Warner has that show buried deeper than the lost ark.

...created by Garry Marshall & Jerry Belson (inbetween their writing assignments for "THE DICK VAN DYKE SHOW" and "THE LUCY SHOW") for Warner Bros. Television, lasted 26 episodes, including the black and white pilot. It was primarily sponsored by A.T.&T.'s "Bell System" {"YOUR TELEPHONE COMPANY"} on NBC"s Friday night schedule [8pm(et), right after "CAMP RUNAMUCK"], and they used to place small ads on the TV pages of various local newspapers every week [including my local paper, the LONG BRANCH DAILY RECORD], advising readers to enjoy the show on Friday nights, declaring, "It's chuckle-full entertainment for family viewing". Not enough families tuned in for them to renew their sponsorship, however, and the series was cancelled after one season {how'd YOU like to appear opposite the first black and white season of "THE WILD WILD WEST"?}. And no less than Johnny Mercer and Frank Perkins wrote the theme song!
Note: scenes from the third episode, "Dunsetter For President" [10/1/65], appeared in the 1965-'66 NBC Fall Preview special, "A Secret Agent's Dilemma" (featuring Don Adams as "Maxwell Smart"). That's on YouTube, so it's worth looking into.

It's amazing how many people remember that show. It was very low in the ratings. I was at the Paley Center a while back and there were 2 guys next to me and the one show they wanted to watch was Hank. Which of course the museum didn't have. I gave them my card and told them I would give them an episode but I never heard from them.

I've always remembered that show. I thought I was the only one.

How sad that BOTH shows named HANK had to tank so quickly.

It would be nice to think that maybe Warner will offer it as a Burn on Demand but that would require them mastering them to tape from the 35mm negatives and I can't imagine they would go to that trouble and expense.

On November 3, 2015, Warner Bros. released Hank: The Complete Series on a manufactured-on-demand DVD via their Warner Archive Collection. ![]() Smack dab in the middle of the great Sixties Sitcom Golden Age, Warner Bros. Television surprised audiences with a most unusual series – Hank! Hank starred Dick Kallman as Hank Dearborn, full-time university gopher and food-truck operator, part-time college drop-in. Orphaned at 15, Hank has a little sister, Tina (Katie Sweet), to care for and not enough funds for college. Determined to get a degree, Hank hatches one wild plan – impersonate absent students and audit his way through higher ed! Unfortunately for Hank, the college registrar, Dr. Lewis Royal (Howard St. John) suspects he has an unregistered student on campus and is eager to sniff him out. Little does Dr. Royal suspect that his on campus serial student impersonator is the same hard-working lad who dates his daughter, Doris (Linda Foster). Setting Hank apart from other one-season wonders is the fact that the series’ 26th and final episode is a true series finale! I purchased the Hank DVD set a few years ago, along with some other one season wonder sitcoms such as My Mother The Car, Good Morning World, The Jimmy Stewart Show, and Lotsa Luck. I'm glad to have all of these.
