The 3rd episode to air and Susan Olsen as the youngest Brady is at the centre of the story as Cindy. Hard for me to believe that this episode aired in prime time but then it was a different time back then... A nice enough episode but not one of my favourites. In the episode we get to see some nice shots of the Brady patio looking into the family room, kitchen and living room. We also see the washing line which wasn't there last week and probably won't be there next week . We also get to see Herman(?) - the Bradys tortoise. Is it me or does it seem that when Mike and Carol learn what is up with Cindy that it is a little cruel that they let her deal with the problem by herself? That said, the way Mike helps her with the talk in the bedroom is very sweet. Blooper: When the family walk into the girls bedroom to find Cindy asleep Marcia has the first line indicating that she had found her asleep previously and had gone and told everyone to come up and have a look. However, when she enters the room she looks over to Jans bed first before clocking Cindy at the desk and her facial reaction is that she has seen this for the first time? |

Forgot to post this bit yesterday but Brian Forster(?) who was the second actor to play the youngest Partridge male appears in this episode. Funny thing is, he probably has as many lines in this episode (which isn't many) as he does in any given Partridge Family episode that he appeared in. This is partly why I prefer the Bradys; all the kids had episodes to themselves and equal screen time. The youngest two Partridge kids had about 3-5 lines an episode each as the show was normally about something Keith, Danny and then Laurie did. Danny was also one of the most unrealistic child characters ever IMO and not that likeable.

I think you're right about that. Someone once asked, probably on the Partridge Family board, how many plots Chris & Tracy had on that show, and I mentioned that they shared one plot in four years, where they ran away from home to Reuben's apt. I'm pretty sure Reuben had more lines in that ep than Chris & Tracy combined.

I love the early episodes especially because you get to see the girls and boys bonding as sisters and brothers.

Look closely in the backyard flying scene as the boys are running out of the yard, as Alice is entering the yard from the kitchen and as the boys are running back into the yard. It is behaving in a typical cat like fashion, sitting on a lawn chair grooming itself. Of course, the Bradys didn't have a cat after the pilot, I suppose it could be explained as a neighbor's cat, since outdoor cats often don't respect property lines. However, the cat's appearance is so subtle that is doesn't look deliberate, yet how could a cat that isn't supposed to be there wind up on a set and show up on camera? In the next episode, Alice doesn't live here anymore, the chair and the ball in it that were next to the chair with the cat in it are still there, but both the cat and the chair it was sitting on are gone. Note also, as with other early episodes, you can actually see screen material in the screens. |
