Reports are that ABC has given full season pickups to Modern Family, Cougar Town and The Middle. Some will probably be surprised by The Middle getting a quick nod, but ABC seems serious about keeping the 8pm-10pm comedy block. Things don’t look so good for Hank..

I find Hank to be pretty standard issue for someone like Kelsey Grammer, but it could build into a decent show.

Back To You, Kelsey's previous show with Patricia Heaton, was starting to gel creatively when Fox pulled the plug on it last year -- I think that show could have had a nice long run. It should have been given a second season to find a wider audience. In some respects, I'm surprised it was given a full season given the way they don't give shows a chance at all unless they're a blockbuster out the gate.

Cougar Town...oh well, there's no accounting for taste.

I don't hate this news, Cat...I just think it's sad that CT is what passes for humor these days.

But I guess it's a new generation and old farts like me can just rent the classics on DVD -- so when is Barney Miller season four coming out, anyways??

I'd like to know the answer to your Barney Miller question myself - but at least I own all the Gregory Sierra episodes.

More seriously, I liked Back To You as well - I think it had a lot of potential and two big-name, Emmy-winning stars at the helm should've helped. Too bad the writers' strike and FOX's indifference hastened its demise.

Woah, I'm surprised to hear this about Cougar Town, but I've been watching it since day 1, so we'll see how it goes.
