Post Who misses...

...the old days. Fifteen, ten, and even five years ago, television used to be so much better with their cartoons. Now, most of the cartoons they show on Nickelodeon, Cartoon Network, The Disney Channel, and all the rest are dumb, boring, and sometimes even depressing. Now the only way you can see some of these shows is to pay for Toon Disney. Not everyone can afford THAT. And others have just vanished. These are what I like (I realize some of these are still on the air SOMEWHERE):

Fantastic Max
Garfield
Heathcliff
Snorks
He-Man & She-Ra
Top Cat
Babar
The Wonderful Wizard of Oz (Did anyone see that, it was on HBO)

ON NICKELODEON:
The Lil Bits
Noozles
The Little Koala
(Did any of you see ANY of these?????)

ON THE DISNEY CHANNEL:
The Gummi Bears
The Care Bears
Fraggle Rock
Under the Umbrella Tree
Adventures in Wonderland
(The last two aren't cartoons, but they were two of the BEST anyway.)

I really miss Super Mario Bros. The best cartoon ever in my opinion!

------------------
Jack: "This is a job for the man of the house."
Janet: "I did not kiss Larry!"
Chrissy: "Snort snort."
Mr. Roper: "Not tonight Helen, I got a headache."
Mrs. Roper: "Not tonight. That would be a good title for my autobiagraphy."
Mr. Furley: "Once a tippytoes, always a tippytoes."
Cindy: "I guess I messed things up, huh?"
Terri: "Janet? Shut up and get married."
KEC JNS
p.s. I'M PETER LORRY!
UP YOUR ZIGGY W/ A WA-WA BRUSH!!!!!!!!!!!!

Cool

Man, I'm feeling old, and yeah I remember EVERY ONE of those. The Wuzzles too, can't forget the Wuzzles and Rainbow Brite. Some at least are on in syndication, and some went to BOOMERANG!

If you have cable and your cable carrier has Boomerang, I'm telling you you NEED THIS!!! I flew on JetBlue once and they have Direct TV in every seat. I was watching all the old shows from Huckleberry Hound to Speed Buggy to The Hair Bear Bunch and Dudley Do Right, and I had a BALL! I only wish we got Boomerang where I live.

Oh and not only the cartoon of Fraggle Rock, but the muppet version that started on HBO. That's where the spinoff to cartoons came from, of course. And just to ask-anyone remember on HBO what came on before and after? *grins* Since Fraggle Rock was only 45-50 minutes, they had Brain Games after (which I miss, those were cute) and one show was always before it...just seeing if anyone else remembers which one it was.

Oh yea! I miss that one too. The sad thing is, I hated it in the first run. Then in the reruns we taped it. But then the tape broke so we junked it. Only now do I regret that.

Also, Toon Disney and Disney air Madeline (not the 1995 ABC version, the 1997 Disney Channel one).

It airs weekdays on TD at 230pm I think or 2pm and it airs on Disney at various times.

No Brett, actually I'm happy to not see those shows now because I don't miss them. I used to have to watch those JUST before heading to school, and I do NOT miss them one bit.

Give me the cartoon Pooh over the live action any day. And as to the Dumbo's Circus, may it rest in pieces.

CN started playing "Dennis the Menace" (another one of the old greats), but the only way I see it is if I'm late for school!
I may be going on 18, but I still like the occasional cartoon.

Nickeloden is churning out these cartoons that are so stupid. I used to be such a fan of Rugrats, but it is not as funny as it was before the 1st movie.....

------------------
Hottest Men alive:
Dale Midkiff
Anthony Starke
Tim McGraw
Jonathan Crombie

Lumpy: Did you go out for anything, Dud?

Dudley: Well, I went out for football, but I got my finger stepped on, so my mother made me quit.

Eddie: Well listen-- I went out for basketball and I got my hair pulled, and my mother made ME quit.

Dudley: It's not that I was afraid of getting hurt or anything; it's just that-- well, it's kind o' hard to play the flute with a busted finger.

[Eddie and Lumpy suppress laughter]

Dale Midkiff is my man!

I remember all those good Disney shows! My fav was AVONLEA (it was on Monday nights though) which ran for seven yrs. ADVENTURES IN WONDERLAND was another fav (I remember the Christmas special) and so was UMBRELLA TREE. And I remember WONDERFUL WIZARD OF OZ (I have a few of the last epsidoes, THE EMERALD CITY OF OZ ones). It was OK, although the animation was weird sometimes (especially on Ozma! I never liked the way she looked ). Anyway, nowadays Disney Channel has ruined TV with their new shows.

OUT OF THE BOX
ROLY-POLY-OLIE
STANLEY
ETC, ETC!

Don't get me wrong, some are OK shows, but they'll NEVER be as high-quality or entertaining as ADVENTURES IN WONDERLAND, etc...

THE WUZZLES is still on TV, on Toon Disney. You need to order the station though. It's GREAT!

::: getting teary eyed :::

Man do I miss those old days of watching the classic disney cartoons. I absolutely loved the Disney channel back then and now I totally dislike it. The disney cartoons I remember are:

* Mickey & Gang cartoon shorts
* Mother Goose Stories
* The Wuzzles
* Gummi Bears
* Ducktales (classic!)
* Chip 'N Dale Rescue Rangers
* Darkquin Duck (isn't this a spin-off from Ducktales?)
* Goof Troop
* Talespin
* Bonkers
* The Little Bits
* Fraggle Rock (animated one)
* Fraggle Rock (puppet one)
* Under the Unbrella Tree
* Adventures in Wonderland
* Sonic the Hedgehog
* Cowboys of Moo-Mesa
* Winnie the Pooh
* Pooh Corner
* Dumbo Circus
* Quack Pack
* Timon & Pumbaa
* The Care Bears
* Aladdin
* Gargoyles
* My Little Pony Tales
* Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles
* Felix the Cat
* Music Box
* Lunch Box
there are probably many others that I remember but I don't remember them right off the bat you know . . . it has been so long ago.

I wish I had Toon Disney because I would love to see some of those cartoons again.
