Default Grrrr @ Sony!!! New AITF Release

WTF is Sony thinking?

Releasing a "Fan Favorites" DVD of All In The Family and The Jeffersons BEFORE even finishing off their respective "Rest of Series".

IE. SONY - RELEASE SEASONS 7 & 8! of AITF!! (or is it just one more season that we need)?

And release the rest of The Jefferson series.

Sorry for the bitching - it's just frustrating!

All in the Family has 3 seasons yet to be released, seasons 7, 8 & 9.
plus Archie's Bunker's Place followed up All in the Family for four seasons, 3 seasons, 2, 3 & 4 yet to be released.

The Jeffersons has 5 seasons yet to be released, seasons 7, 8, 9, 10 & 11.

All in the Family seasons 1-6 were just re-released in more compact packages and I heard they were doing the same with The Jeffersons.

On top of that theres The Norman Lear Set which re- released the first seasons of 7 Shows and now the fan favorites.

But no sign of the remaining seasons of AITF, ABP and TJ. Go figure!

You have every right to b*TCH because the episodes of the All in the Family and the Jeffersons on the Fan Favorite DVD are from the seasons that are already released on DVD.

Default so close... yet so far...

Agreed. Hate the way Sony has treated so many shows--with the exception of Bewitched and Jeannie (Even tho extras would have been nice on those sets).

But with AITF, we get 6 seasons released--leaving us with 76 more episodes over 3 seasons. I was so hopeful when they released the first season of Archie Bunker's Place, thinking it was a sign that the rest of AITF was on its way to DVD.

But, here were are winding down 2009 with nothing NEW from Sony.

Guess I will begin converting my old Columbia House AITF vhs tapes to DVD--at least that will give me 28 more episodes (8 from Season 7; 7 from Season 8; and 13 from Season 9.) They won't be commercial grade, but they are at least uncut and will give me more AITF to view when I need a fix!

I hear you Billy K. I'm with you. I'm anxious to complete my season series of both of these shows. I can't understand what the holdup is.

I haven't even started buying them and I won't until all seasons are released.

I'm trying to watch all of AITF in order, because I just found the first six seasons online for 16 bucks (used obviously - the catch was that they were all in a case and didn't have their covers, but who cares?).... I'm a little apprehensive about seasons 7-9 though. There are fan-made sets of those, but they're VERY expensive.

As for Archie Bunker's Place... who the hell knows? I can't even find fan-made sets.

Yes, I most certainly agree it was very stupid for sony to release the fan favorites DVD with stuff that had already been released. That Norman Lear set was also unnecessary. It would have been fine if they wanted to make a DVD box that had the retrospective stories about Norman Lear and his creations and the first two unaired pilots of All in the Family, but including the already released first seasons of all his main shows was not called for. Not only did Sony do fan favorites for All in the Family and The Jeffersons, but they also did it for Diff'rent Strokes which has barely made any progress with them. Thank goodness Shout Factory picked up the Facts of Life and will be releasing Season 4 soon. I hope that they will do the same for All in the Family, Archie Bunker's Place, Maude, The Jeffersons, One Day at a Time, Diff'rent Strokes, The Facts of Life, Who's the Boss, and 227.

By the way, if you want to get the unreleased seasons of shows like All In the Family and The Jeffersons and all the other good ones that Sony isn't releasing, go to ioffer.com and people are selling them there. They may be bootlegs that were taped off television and put on DVD but it's much better than nothing at all when stupid Sony won't release them.

Yeah, that's where I'll be getting 'em. First seasons 7-9 in a bundle then Archie Bunker's Place. (FINALLY someone has that on there.)
