My sister cut a $20 long sleeve shirt. She cut the sleeves just because she wanted to. I think that's so dumb. She knows better. A few months ago she cut a pair of jeans because she wanted them to be shorts. She doesn't seem to appreciate much. My mother buys her stuff and she ruins it. When my brother and I were growing up my mother was very strick. Had we done something like that we would never have heard the end of it. Kids have it too easy these days, imo. My sister will turn 17 this month.

That is nuts. She probably sees people doing it at school though.

Maybe if she had to buy her own clothes she'd learn to appreciate the value of things.

Oh, I know. My sister is spoiled beyond belief. She doesn't have to buy the things so she doesn't appreciate it.

Your sister is mentally-handicapped, isn't she? Is she able to understand the value of money and the fact that the shirt is now ruined?
I do feel your frustration. I had a co-worker spill coffee on a brand-new shirt I was wearing, which left a stain I couldn't get out. She refused to pay me for it, even after I showed her the ruined shirt. I know it was an accident, but I was still out a brand-new shirt. |

She understands that what she did was wrong. She knows it costs money, but when she wants to do something she does it, regardless.

Yeah, that's part of her emotional handicap. She wants what she wants, when she wants, however she wants. No boundaries. I'm know it's frustrating for you and your mother. I think that sometimes, your mother just gives in because it's easier; can't say I blame her.

If she cut the shirt and pants but still wore them then I think that's okay. I've cut pants into shorts and wore them just as much. On a side note, my friend sold T-Shirts at a NASCAR race and one of the customers bought a $25 shirt and had her cut the sleeves off.
