Can someone ask me what the hell the Gay Games are?
Cleveland may not have Championships, Cleveland will never get the Olympics, but...Cleveland has the Gay Games!
For some reason...I feel that the weather here may have a lot of rain, 100 degree weather, record-falling snow, or all three in a year because of this (and I won't get into that part)! |

The Gay Games (formerly Gay Olympics) is the world's largest sporting and cultural event organized by and specifically for LGBT athletes, artists, musicians, and others.
It welcomes participants of every sexual orientation and every skill level. Originally started in San Francisco in 1982, as the brainchild of Tom Waddell, whose goals were to promote the spirit of inclusion and participation, as well as the pursuit of personal growth in a sporting event. It brings together people from all over the world, many from countries where homosexuality remains illegal and hidden. http://www.gaygames.com/en/ |

Thanks - I knew I forgot some other possible events! Toronto's had them for years - we have the world's largest Gay Pride Parade at the end of June each year. You talk about a colourful city - even the mayor and police have a blast. |

Sure does - right thru the centre of the city. Runs for a week really and then on the weekend they have the big Dyke March on Saturday and the main parade on Sunday.
Actually, back in the early 90s my hairdresser (go figure) invited my mother and myself down and it was an absolute BLAST. Prepare to get wet. LOL btw - side note, Yonge Street was, if not still is, the longest street in the world.

One of the things we did is eat dinner at the Wayne Gretzky cafe and see an improv show at Second City. ![]() (P.S. Cathie - check your Facebook inbox. I left you a little special something. )
