Talk host Larry King's CNN contract expires in 18 months, so the network is eyeing possible successors should the 75-year-old decide to retire, the New York Post’s Page 6 reports.

First choice for the CNN would be “American Idol” host Ryan Seacrest, the gossip column says.

We wonder if Fox--and parent News Corp, which owns rival cable networks--would allow Seacrest to do such a gig on CNN. Paula, on the other hand...

I think Ryan is a great choice.

He's going to have to let go of a few of those projects of his if he's picked.

Just found this online. Seems from this article that the news was even a surprise to Larry! I think Ryan Seacrest is way too young for this job. I couldn't even imagine thinking of another replacement, but I certainly hope it's not Katie Couric!

Besides, if the show is called Larry King Live, why do they need a replacement? I mean, if he retired, couldn't they just end the show and start a similar one, if they had to?
