Default Get ready for "NICK NORTH"! Nickelodeon finally arrives in Canada!

On November 2, Nickelodeon, one of the most popular US cable networks ever, and the network which inspired Nick At Nite and TV Land, will make its long-long-awaited debut on Canadian television. The new Nickelodeon Canada, owned by Corus Entertainment Inc. of Canada, who also run Teletoon and Teletoon Retro, will offer many of the same cartoons and children's series that are part of the US Nickelodeon network plus a few new Canadian shows as well. The full details can be seen here in this official press release that was just announced today:

http://www.corusent.com/home/Corpora...t.aspx?Id=1712

All I can say is: I want my Nick At Nite! And I'm hoping it's better than the original, just like TV Land Canada is.

I just read about this on Channel Canada.

Although I am wondering if they have reached agreements with individual cable/satellite services yet and if so, which?

To me, it seems like it will really only be a kids channel. Doesn't seem like they are planning a N@N North lol. Don't you find it's just so similar to YTV, though? It will be nice to have the classic cartoons again but the rest of it isn't anything that isn't airing on other channels.

The programming sounds similar to both YTV and Family Channel. Who knows maybe some new competition will make those networks better.

I hope Nickelodeon is a lot better in Canada than it is over here!

Well, now here's your chance to find out! Nick Canada released their official schedule today and it looks like this:

Nick Canada Fall Lineup

Nick Canada Website

The new channel will officially be called Nick Canada and will replace the digital channel Discovery Kids which will cease to exist after Nov. 2. The shows themselves look great if you're a kid or a teen, but as an adult, right away I see one major weakness: No Nick At Nite!!!! I don't know why this is but I will find out.

I'm very pleased, though, that they have Rugrats, CatDog, Angry Beavers, Rocko's Modern Life for example. Kids today need to see shows like that.

I think there should just be a channel for 90s cartoons.
-Rugrats
-CatDog
-Angry Beavers
-Rocko's Modern Life
-Doug
-Hey Arnold
-Aaaah Real Monsters
-Recess
-Pepper Ann
just shows like that, you know? like look at what Nick used to air around 1999 that was tremendous
