Question Do you donate to Charity?

I do what I can, and wish I could give more. I give $12 a month to the Paralyzed Veterans of America. They send the nicest gifts. I asked them to stop with the address labels as I have enough to last two lifetimes, lol. Now they send me personalized stationary, a calendar, stickers, bookmarks, all sorts of stuff.

I give the same amount to The Humane Society. They also send me nice things, with cute animal themes.

I just ordered my Christmas cards from The American Cancer Society. It's nice to be able to donate to a cause that's close to my heart, as I lost both of my parents to cancer.

My brother is active in gay rights, so I give him a check for whatever he's walking for or doing. We also give to my husband's grandkid's school things.

If I was rich, I'd give SOOOOO much to help children and animals, but I'm not, so I give what I can.

I sometimes do. I'm also volunteering in a charity shop, the British Red Cross.

That's wonderful. Donating yourself and your time is every bit as important as donating money.

I used to donate to alot of charities. I don't have the funds I used to so I've had to narrow it down to 3 - Best Friends Animal Sanctuary, Orlando Union Rescue Mission, and the Greater Orlando Food Bank.

I used to send money to the Paralyzed Veterans of American, and the Vietnam Veterans of America, but because of my job loss and other things I havent been able to donate a dime, and I feel bad about that.

I also have more than enough coffee mugs, blankets, "scribble" pads, T-shirts(that I really don't even wear in the 1st place). I keep telling them to stop sending me stuff. Use the money you're spending to send the things on your cause!!

Thanks. I volunteer Saturdays, but didn't go in yesterday because I'm very angry and depressed over something that happened at the beginning of the week and just didn't feel like going in. I phoned and told them I wouldn't be able to come, so I just went out and hung around some bookshops instead, and bought a few things.

I fully intend to be there next Saturday, though.

Do church offerings count? In our church, you have the option to donate your offering to missions, the food pantry, etc.

I don't donate to charity (as in organizations) but I do give to street beggars in my travels.

I do the same thing, even if it's something as little as $5.

Cancer Society, Heart & Stroke, Salvation Army, Children's charities and mostly animal charities (I'm a member of the OSPCA).

We also donated after the Tsunami to World Vision.

I tend to donate a lot of clothing and household goods to Goodwill too.

I forgot about Goodwill. Since I know my corporate days are over, some people are getting some very nice clothes. I have to find that organization that helps poor women get back into the workforce. My wardrobe would be perfect for that. I always bought classic clothes too, so nothing's gone out of style. I have a walk-in closet packed with pant and skirt suits. I was a clothes horse. Lou used to joke that it made no sense for me to work because just about my entire paycheck went on clothes, the tailor and dry cleaning, lol. It will free up my closet too.

I donate to two charities/organizations a month. I have donated to Easter Seals, Special Olympics, Seedlings Braille Books, different cancer organizations. One of my friend's dads just got diagonsed with ALS. I'm planning to send a donation to an ALS organization sometime soon.

yes ALL the time. I'm constantly donating to the women's shelter i work at - food, clothes (gently worn and most never worn still with tags), dvds i no longer watch, gently used books, shoes (many unworn. i donated my nike shox and now everyday i see one of our clients wearing them and its nice to see them being enjoyed), purses (i donated one of my genuine coach bags once and a knock off chanel), toiletries, blankets, comforters, furniture (nightstands), appliances (a refridgerator and stove).

then i make monetary donations. a week ago i donated $10 to these firemen in front of stop & shop for jerry's kids mda. then anytime i see an official collection jar i'll put a few dollars in. like in super walmart where i normally grocery shop they have a ct children's medical center collection barrell and i always put $3 dollars in. we bought from the neighbor's kids' pta catalog that funds supplies and activities for the school. marvin has been donating to the humane society for years - we're always getting those animal themed address labels.

everytime i checkout on ebay with paypal i click the donate $1 option to whatever organization they have featured (unless i don't believe in the cause). i put money in the collection plate at church every sunday. i mean they're small amounts but they add up quickly.
