Default Roper and Furley in each other's episodes, could they pull it off?

I just got an idea if Mr. Roper was in a Furley episode, and if Furley was in a Roper episode, would things go the same way.

In season 2 episode, "Strange Bedfellows" when Roper and Jack were caught in bed together, it had a big affect. Would it still had the same affect if Furley and Jack were caught in bed?

In season 5 episode, "Double Trouble" Jack was able to fool Furley into thinking he had a twin brother named Austin. Would they been able to fool Roper?

Honestly, if Furley woke up in bed with Jack, he probably would've had a heart attack and keeled over right then and there, as excitable as he was.

I don't think Roper would've fallen for the twin brother routine. Roper was just kinda "normal stupid" like Archie Bunker. Furley was a gullible buffoon.

I think that it is interesting that the last poster compared Mr. Roper to Archie Bunker. Yes, they were both stupid, conservative and selfish, however, Archie, by all means had more redeeming qualities than Stanly Roper. While we are on the topic of people who had more redeeming qualities than Mr. Roper, let us not forget, Ralph Kramdon and Fred Flintstone before him and Homer Simpson after him. The only one who I can think of who there was as few good things to say about as Roper is possibly Al Bundy.

Be careful now, Al Bundy happens to be my hero, even though he was a Chicagoan. (Although I'm sure that if there ever were any red-blooded Americans like that in that Commie sh*thole, the scummy pols who run it would've had them institutionalized and lobotomized by now. )

Also, I find it interesting that you compared Stanley Roper to Al Bundy without mentioning the similarities between their wives. They were both horny, nagging redheads who their husbands didn't want anything to do with.

Personally, if I had to be married to one or the other of them, I'd choose Helen Roper. At least she didn't spend all of Stanley's money the way Peg spent Al's. In real life, when you spend money you don't have, you go to jail, (Unless, of course. you happen to be a politician. Then you just call it a "tax increase" and vote yourself another pay raise. ) and that's where Al would've been, the way his wife was spending.

The first thing that I would like to touch on is what you said about Al being your hero in spite of him being from Chicago. If this because you are from the South and Illinios is the Land of Lincoln? On top of this, I am very hard put to understand why you would pick him as someone to admire! All he did was complain about his dead-end job, his dead-end life and make jokes at the expence of everyone who was different from him (particularly his own wife and children)! Archie Bunker was a Saint compaired to him!

Well, don't feel bad. Mine got deleted too.

Except I know exactly why mine got deleted. It's because the mods here are COWARDLY LITTLE WUSSIES who live in mortal terror of any serious political discussion on these boards. I've seen it happen too many times on too many other boards not to know the score.

Now watch this post self-destruct in about three seconds....

Interesting concept. I don't think so - they were two entirely different characters played by actors with entirely different acting styles.

I am sure we would have seen the famous bug eyes from Don Knotts in that situation.
