The Brady Bunch - watching it 40 years on - Sitcoms Online Message Boards

Ok, most of us have the dvds so how about us all watching an episode once a week on the airdates that it aired 40 years ago and then posting our views on it? I am sure we can all manage 25 minutes a week. Also, try to look out for stuff that you may not have noticed before. Whoever starts the thread about the next episode on it's original air date 40 years ago should put the episode title in their post title.

I still find it hard to believe that this pilot sold the show as it is only a so-so episode but even this early in the game the cast are very likeable.

I noticed two bloopers. At the start of act one Mike kicks a football and closes the boot on the car but at the start of act 2 the car boot is still open and the football is waiting to be kicked...

After Fluffy runs under the table that is holding the cake the camera cuts to Marcia and the girls running past the same table. The camera holds still at the end of the table and if you look at the bottom of the screen you can see 2 wires holding the cake so that it can be controlled as it slides down the tabel into Mikes hands.

In the opening Kitchen scene at Mikes house you can see the ceramic tiger like ornament behind Peter or Bobby (I forget who) that would take pride and place in the family room on top of the tv (noticeable in the episode Liberation of Marcia Brady).

I think in America you guys call it the 'trunk;' that place in the car you put your shopping or in the case of The Brady Bunch - where they sat Alice when they went camping.

Also, when you guys 'pop the hood' to get to the engine we 'raise the bonnet.'

I lived in Australia for a year so I am also familiar with different termonolgy within the English language. Some of there terms are similar to those in the United Kingdom while others are all their own. One that comes to mind is that what we call a carpenter ant they call a bull ant.

I think it's so cool how different countries use different terminology. I spent a month in Australia, and I love how they call a parking lot the car park, elevators are lifts, guys are blokes.

Bachu, thanks for the England terminology! We could do a whole thread on this!

Anyway to get back on topic, unfortunately I don't have the DVD's but maybe I could find the airdates of episodes and possibly catch them on Youtube, just so I can participate!

On second thought, maybe I should get the DVD's. Anyway this is a VERY cool idea and it would actually work for pretty much every show on this board (that has DVD releases that is!

). There are so many good ones that have yet to be released!

For those of us that have the dvds or can watch them on YouTube I think an episode a week as it would have been viewed 40 years ago is a fun idea. I think the next episode is Dear Libby which has a BIG plot hole

IMO which I will mention here on Saturday and you can give me your take on it.

Yes, although tap is most commonly used when saying "tap water," while faucet refers more often to the device itself -- as in "kitchen faucet" or "bathroom faucet." And of course, the phrase "cold beer on tap" is very common...!
