Exclamation Manson Follower Susan Atkins Dies From Brain Cancer

Manson Follower Susan Atkins Dies
By LINDA DEUTSCH, AP

LOS ANGELES (Sept. 24) - Susan Atkins, a follower of cult leader Charles Manson whose remorseless witness stand confession to killing pregnant actress Sharon Tate in 1969 shocked the world, has died. She was 61 and had been suffering from brain cancer.

Atkins' death comes less than a month after a parole board turned down the terminally ill woman's last chance at freedom on Sept. 2. She was brought to the hearing on a gurney and slept through most of it.

I really want to say something mean, but I don't think you're allowed to do that here on a condolence thread, no matter who it is.

OK, I guess I will say something -

I hope she suffered as much as she made Sharon Tate suffer. The only bad thing about her dying is that she is out of pain.

That wasn't my 1st thought though, I thought of other things, too.

I'm not happy that she died this way, but my sympathy for her is limited. In this situation, I would feel more sympathetic towards her family, who may well be decent people. As we know, not all criminals come from bad families - there are many that have relatives who are good, kind people who are absolutely shocked and appalled at the awful things their family member has done.

So, I do have sympathy for any decent person who for whatever reason (being a blood relative, for example) may have been close to this woman. However, my sympathy for Susan Atkins herself is limited.

I agree with this statement.

I have no sympathy for her. She deserved to suffer like that. Hopefully, Manson and the others will follow suit real soon. They lost their rights to be considered human beings when they decided to commit those murders.

Hope it's hot enough for you down there, Susan!

Edit: Yes, I know it's not nice to speak ill of someone who just died. I am showing her the same level of compassion and mercy she showed to Sharon Tate.

I just hope that monster who was the mastermind for the destruction of Pan Am 103 (who supposedly is also inflicted with cancer) follows - QUICKLY!!!!

She lived 40 years longer than those poor victims. Sharon's son would be a man now, probably with a family. The poor baby was was never given a chance at life. I can't believe I used to be pro-abortion. Sorry to go off topic there. Back to Susan, good riddance.

I feel that this must be a sigh of relief for Sharon's family. Their goal has always been to keep this woman behind bars. I hope Debra Tate can feel some peace that she has accomplished what her mother and little sister always wanted: Susan Atkins never got out. Debra won't have to make any more emotional pleas at her parole hearings. It's over. At least this chapter is.

God bless the Tate family. They've had more grief in the past 40 years than anyone could bear.

Being pro-choice has nothing at all to do with the tragedy of Sharon's baby.

I make the connection of a baby who didn't get a chance to live, much like aborted babies don't.
