As if this'll surprise you, Laverne & Shirley did. And I'm not just saying that because it's my favorite show. It really did have hilarious characters. Laverne and Shirley, Lenny and Squiggy, Carmine, Frank, Rosie.... all of them can make me laugh and cry and seem like I'm with them.

The Golden Girls was a very hcaracter based show and i think that they always did a great job of making the characters, beleivable and funny at the same time., Sophia was such a hoot!

I'm gonna have to agree with you on this one L&S...Laverne and shirley had great characters...along with Happy Days, which would be my first choice.
