Default I lost my dog today...

Sorry, beforehand for the depressing thread. But today, I had to put down my. Bo; she had been suffering from terrible pain in the last few days. I have never cried so hard in my entire life, especially over a pet; but she was something special. Before she died, I told her I loved her, and also told her that we will meet again (I know, silly) but who would ever thought, that a person could love an animal so much? And, how terribly painful it is, to make a decision to put her down? Right now I am heartsicken, but I am also relieved (in a way) that Bo is no longer in pain..

I love you, Bo Bo

PS. I would post a picture of my precious dog, but right it is, way too painful, and I have cried enough today...

I am so sorry Tara. I know how much you loved Bo. I rememebr how I felt when Coco died. I'd like to think that they're together right now. Pets are very special and when you lose them, it's like losing a family member. God Bless you Tara and I'll keep you and Bo in my prayers tonight.

Oh honey, I am so, so sorry to hear about your heartbreak. I, too, am an animal lover and I definitely don't look forward to the days when any of my pets have to go. My heart breaks for you and tears came to my eyes reading your post.

I don't mean to being you down any more than you are. My thoughts are definitely with you as you cope with losing Bo. Like you said, she's out of pain and is romping in the land of the Doggie Treats.

It is definitely not silly that you say you will meet again. I'm sure you're familiar with the poem "The Rainbow Bridge".

I also have a sign in my home that reads

"Heaven - all the dogs that ever loved you will be waiting at the gate."

Bless your heart and try to stay strong, as hard as it may seem right now.

Bo

Cool

I'm so sorry for your loss Tara. It is exactly two weeks ago today we put Panzer down. And it was for the same reason. To end his pain. So I understand the pain you are going through. But know you did the right thing for Bo. You will definitely be in my prayers.

Thank You, sweetie. I made he decision last night; she was suffering, now I am. But I know that it was the right thing to do. She was such a good dog, and did not deserve any suffering; she is at peace and pain free. I love her and I will miss her, but she will live forever in my heart.

Tara, I am so sorry for your loss. I have lost two cats myself in the last 10 years and it is like losing a family member. I just know that BoBo must have been precious to you. I will pray for you.

Thank You, Mike. Yes, it has been a sad day. I am not going to lie, I feel like I lost a child. But, I am also content, that she is in a better place...

Aw Tara, I'm so sorry to hear about Bo. I know how you're feeling. Please PM me if you like. As you say, we take their suffering away and put it upon ourselves for them. I know now it sounds cliche, but she WILL be with you forever. That's the wonderful thing about pets. Once you get over the pain of their death, there's nothing left but wonderful and ALL happy memories.

I'm so very sorry, Tara. Bo was a family member who you will see again. You did the right thing by ending her pain. This helped me when I lost dear cat, Foxy.

Dedicated to everyone who has ever had to put down a beloved pet.

MAY I GO

May I go now?
Do you think the time is right?
May I say goodbye to pain filled days
and endless lonely nights?

I've lived my life and done my best,
an example tried to be.
So can I take that step beyond
and set my spirit free?

I didn't want to go at first,
I fought with all my might.
But something seems to draw me now
to a warm and loving light.

I want to go. I really do.
It's difficult to stay.
But I will try as best I can
to live just one more day.

To give you time to care for me
and share your love and fears.
I know you're sad and afraid,
because I see your tears.

I'll not be far, I promise that,
and hope you'll always know
that my spirit will be close to you
wherever you may go.

Thank you so for loving me.
You know I love you, too.
That's why it's hard to say goodbye
and end this life with you.

So hold me now just one more time
and let me hear you say,
because you care so much for me,
you'll let me go today.
