When Barbara Jean was fat ....
She looked so nice when she lost weight, later in the show; was the actress just heavy in person or was she supposed to gain weight for the role ?

No that was her regular weight. She's just as large in a movie from the 90's. In the fifth season she was pregnant which is why she looked heavier and then after she had her baby she decided to lose weight.
