For years now there's been reports that the classic 80s science-fiction series "Quantum Leap" might be gearing up again - either as a new series or feature, or both.
According to series' star Scott Bakula though - it'll never happen, not with him in it anyway. The actor, speaking to Moviehole about his role in the new film "The Informant", tells us he doesn't expect to get a call to play time-traveling Sam Beckett again anytime soon. "That's always out there", Bakula responds when asked about the rumours that the original cast might be involved in a revamp of the popular series. "That rumor's always out there". Having said that, the actor would like to see the show come back in some form or another. "I think so. I mean, it would be fun. I would always - you know, you talk about this stuff, and you'd have to see how it would manifest, you know? In terms of a script. And - I always have joked that they'll do it, but it won't be with me and Dean, you know? Because that's just the way that Hollywood is. If they did a feature, they would recast it. And make it better." Bakula received four Emmy nominations for his role as Beckett on "Quantum Leap", a scientist whose time travel experiments go wrong and is then forced to leap through time and into other people's bodies. A "Quantum Leap" telemovie nearly got off the ground in 2002. It was set to air on the Sci-Fi Channel and channel President Bonnie Hammer was apparently interested in getting Bakula back - if only for a cameo. The TV film, which was set to be executive produced by Don P. Bellisario, the creator of the original television series, was intended to serve as a back-door pilot for a new regular series, assuming it rated. For some reason, the series was abandoned and Bakula was recruited by Paramount to star in the most recent "Star Trek" series, "Enterprise". http://www.moviehole.net/200920814-b...m-leap-rumours |

I think this report made an error. Quantum Leap ran from 1989-1993, and therefore most of its run was in the 90s. So it should have said:
