Dang, that guy was a hottie (not quite up there in my eyes with Gregory Sierra, but he comes close). He could SING, too - loved the version of "Cabaret" that he sang at the piano in the bar. Too bad he left the show (even though he later came back) - and sadder still that he's since passed away.

And his talents weren't restricted to acting and singing. He also co-created (with Eric Monte) and was a writer for the series Goodtimes. In fact he was writnng on Goodtimes at the same time he was playing Lionel on the Jeffersons.

Yes, he was very underrated in the entertainment industry.

Was today the anniversary of his death?

I liked him as Mike a lot; I think after he finally came clean with Archie and dropped the fake "Uncle Tom" routine they kind of didn't know what to do with him though.

I agree it's a shame he died so very young and that he wasn't able to do more in the industry.

^ No, he passed away in December 2006. I brought it up because I checked out the DVD sets from the library and am watching it from the beginning.
