Default Is this in stores?

Hello all,

Just a short note asking whether anyone else besides myself has had trouble finding this set in stores? Thus far I've yet to find it... anywhere. I know I can order it but truth to tell, I'm not that huge a fan of this show, seeing as I've only seen one or two episodes in my lifetime. I am interested in it however, if I come across it in a store. I expect to like it since I'm very fond of I Love Lucy (who isn't?) and The Lucy Show. Hell, I'd buy Life With Lucy if that ever became available. But since the show isn't a priority for me, I'm waiting to see it in stores.

Has anyone else seen the DVD set in stores yet? I wonder how MPI can hope to sell many copies if they're not available for customers in stores? I hardly think the show is selling out everywhere.

I'm sure by the time the Christmas season rolls around, I'll catch a stray copy of the show here and there, but I'm genuinely confused as to how I've yet to find ONE copy. Weird...

I got mine at Best Buy. The first week it came out, I couldn't find it any where. Best Buy seems to stock depending on the size of their store and regional location.

If you're a Lucy fan at all, I recommend you get this. Its alot of fun to get to know a show you've never seen before!

My local Walmart had about 6 copies on the rack the day of release. I was surprised, since they never carried prior MPI releases such as Doris Day or Family Affair. But then again, it IS Lucy. I will be going there for subsequent releases.

About 4 or 5 years ago, they didn't carry any Shout Factory product, but the last few years, that is where I've bought everything from That Girl to Rhoda to Designing Women. I will be going there Tuesday at lunch to get Patty Duke.

The Wal-mart where I live does not have a good selection of tv dvd's at all. I got my copy from Deepdiscount.com. It's great the sound is very clear and the video is very sharp.

Well, I'm tired of waiting. I finally put an order for it through Amazon. Seemed most appropriate since Season 2 is out tomorrow. I can hardly wait to see it!

Take care all!

I visited all my local stores today (Walmart, Best Buy, HMV, and Futureshop) and didn't find a single copy of this set. The same thing happened with season 1 and eventually it did show up in a couple of the local stores. It's fustrating though when you can't find the set on the day it's released!

I think, with Here's Lucy future seasons I'll just go through Amazon. It just doesn't seem to be in stores on its release date

That sounds like a good plan.

I'm waiting for my copy to arrive. I checked stores anyway and I'm glad I ordered it online because none of the stores in my area are stocking it and I have a lot of dvd stores near me.

So, it seems I'm not the only one who's run into this, sorry to say. The only possible explanation I can think of is that many of these stores have many copies of I Love Lucy in stock and perhaps they fear that the later series (which aren't as popular comparatively) will merely sit on the shelf. Other than that, who knows?

BTW markway895, are you one of my IOffer customers who recently bought from me?

It took me what felt like forever to track down a copy of the Season 1 set... I tried Walmart, Best Buy, Barnes & Noble, Borders, FYE... Nobody had it. Finally secured the only copy at a Borders about an hour away, and paid $32 plus tax for it!
I learned my lesson and pre-ordered Season 2 through Amazon ($19.99) and had it on my doorstep on 11/04. The Borders site still has Season 2 listed as being on "Backorder" (?!) the week of release. I guess retailer confidence isn't very high on this series, so I made sure to ASK FOR IT at every store I visited.

BestBuy in Clarksville, IN had both seasons for $19.99 as of Tuesday. Great price and I was surprised they had them although they did not even appear to have ordered what I was looking for (Alfred Hitchcock Presents - Season Four).
