I just found out that Charles Jaynes, one of two men convicted of the 1997 rape and murder of ten-year-old Jeffrey Curley, is being let out of prison to attend his father's funeral!
Needless to say, Jeffrey Curley's family is livid, especially his father, Bob Curley, who asked, "Where's Jeffrey's emergency leave?"Since October 1 will mark the 12th anniversary of Jeffrey Curley's abduction, rape, and murder, it goes without saying that the news of Jaynes' temporary release adds insult to injury. Jeffrey Curley lived in Cambridge, Massachusetts, which is not far from where I live. http://www.bostonherald.com/news/reg...icleid=1198140 |

This just in: The decision has been rescinded. Therefore, Charles Jaynes won't be leaving jail for his father's funeral after all. Thank God!

Don't forget that this is the same state that used to have a prison furlough program that granted weekend furloughs even to murderers. Thanks to a public outcry, however, that program was finally abolished in 1988 (when it became one of the main issues for that year's presidential race). |

The article linked in post #1 states that this guy was released twice before on an "emergency" type furlough. Once was to go to his mother's funeral and once for his sister's.
This release would have been 3, in 12 years, that we know of. It's a good thing that the public complained and were able to keep this predator in his cell where he belongs. |

And....
This article states that when this guy went to his mom's funeral, the dept of corrections violated it's own policy by not notifying local police that the convicted murderer was going to be in their town. http://www.bostonherald.com/news/reg...urleys_killer/ |
