I do not own Leave It To Beaver. Yvonne and Marc Gauthier belong to me.
Wally is in college and Beaver is in high school ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- A few weeks after Beaver was dumped, he and Larry were in the cafeteria while students mingled about; a girl near the window was eyeing Beaver, since she wanted to meet him. “Come on Beav, whaddya gotta lose?” Larry asked him. “Well, I don’t know,” Beaver said as the girl waved with a smile; Beaver smiled back but was still hesitant. “Go meet her, whaddya afraid of? She wants to meet you.” “Well, okay,” Beaver said as he got up while Larry watched. Beaver walked over to the girl and sat in the chair across from her. “Hi.” “Hi, I’m Yvonne. What’s your name?” she said with a bright smile as Beaver smiled back. “I’m Theodore but I’ve been given a nickname of Beaver.” “Why do they call you Beaver?” Yvonne asked curiously. “Well, when my brother was little, he couldn’t say Theodore, it just came out ‘Tweador’. But you can call me Beaver or Theodore,” he said nervously as he looked around a bit and saw Larry was eating. “Okay Beaver, but I like Theodore better,” she told him. “Okay.” The bell rang for lunch to be over and the students returned to their classes. Yvonne asked Beaver to meet her after school at the malt shop. At the house— June’s friend picked her up for a women’s club meeting she attended. She felt bored since Wally left but unbeknownst to her, Ward came home. Ward hoped June would fix him lunch but to his disappointment, no one was home so he fixed himself some lunch then went back to work. At the malt shop— Yvonne and Beaver had a drink as they talked about each other’s families. “Are your parents together?” Yvonne asked. “Yeah, are yours?” Yeah. What school did you go to before starting Mayfield High?” Yvonne asked. “I went to Grant Avenue Grammar School, how about you?” “I went to Lynbrook Grammar School. Do you just have one sibling?” Yvonne asked as she took a sip. “Yeah. My brother is in college. Do you have siblings?” Beaver asked as he put his elbow on the table and put his hand on his head. “Yeah, my brother is in college too. How do you like your classes?” “It’s okay, some of the teachers are nice but it sure is hard. How do you like yours?” Beaver said then asked. “I like it. Theodore, can you help me with my homework?” she asked. “What’s the subject?” “It’s history,” she said then continued,” Can we go to your house and I can call my parents and tell them where I’m at so you can help me?” “Sure,” Beaver said as they finished their drinks. Meanwhile— Beaver and Yvonne arrived to an empty house; Yvonne called her father then they went upstairs to start on homework. A while later June was dropped off by a friend, as she walked through the door, then into the kitchen. She saw a mess on the table that consisted of a knife with mustard on it, an empty glass of milk, and a plate. “Oh Beaver, why didn’t you clean up your mess,” June complained to herself as she cleaned up the mess. Ward was already home and went in the kitchen. “June is that you, dear?” Ward called out from the den, walking into the kitchen. “Yes dear,” June said as she gave Ward a kiss. “Hi, so you didn’t run away to join the circus, I see.” “What?” June asked curiously as she gave him a confused look. “Well, I came home for lunch hoping you would make me a sandwich but you weren’t home so I made it and went back to work.” “Well Ward, I want you to talk to Beaver for leaving this mess on the table,” June said annoyed. “But dear, that is my mess.” “Yours?” June said in surprise as they both walked to the den. “Yeah, I wanted to annoy you,” he said with a smile as they kissed and June and Ward went towards the stairs. “Oh Ward.” “How was your women’s meeting?” “Oh, it went fine. Beaver home? Sorry I’m late since they had so much to talk about and we are going to have another meeting the day after tomorrow.” “No, Beaver wasn’t home when I got home and I haven’t heard him come in but can I help you with dinner dear?” Ward asked slyly. “I’d rather you help me with the dishes unless you are going to cook and I will lounge around the house,” June said with a smile. Ward laughed then he went back in the den as June went upstairs to change then went back downstairs to started on dinner. Awhile later the doorbell rang as Ward went to get it. “Hello? Can I help you?” Ward asked. |

“Hello, is this the Cleaver residence?” Marc asked.
“Yes, can I help you?” Ward asked. “My name is Marc Gauthier, my daughter called me awhile ago and told me she was at this address doing homework with Theodore.” “Come in. I don’t even know if my son is home. We didn’t hear him come in,” Ward said. “Oh yes, my daughter does that to me sometimes,” Marc said realizing Beaver might not have told his parents he was home. “Beaver!!” “Yes, Dad!” Beaver shouted back. “I guess he is home.” Ward said then continued with a slight laugh, “Come down with your friend please.” “Okay Dad.” June walked in from the kitchen as Beaver and Yvonne came downstairs. “Hi Beaver, when did you come home? I was going to ask your father to call your friends since supper is almost ready,” June said. “I’ve been home awhile and no one was home when we got here.” “Hello, I’m Mrs. Cleaver, Beaver’s mom.” “Hi, I’m Marc and this is my daughter Yvonne,” Marc introduced his daughter. “Hello Yvonne.” “Hello Mrs. Cleaver.” “If you would excuse me, I have some ham in the oven,” June said as she left for the kitchen. “Hi Dad,” Yvonne said as she hugged her dad. “Hi. You ready to go?” “Yeah, let me go get my stuff,” she said as she and Beaver went upstairs. “So how far do you live from here?” Ward asked. “Half a mile.” Yvonne came down with her books, followed by Beaver, who met her father at the bottom step. Marc and Yvonne left for their home as June told the men dinner was ready. “What kind of homework were you doing?” Ward asked as he took a bite. “History.” “Well, next time you come to an empty home, please let me or your father know you are home,” June said then took a bite. “Sure Mom.” After dinner, Ward and June were doing the dishes when Beaver was doing his homework upstairs. Ward noticed June was very quiet as she handed him the dish then he broke the silence. “What’s wrong dear?” “It’s just that Beaver is growing up and is already in high school,” June responded. “Well, maybe he will finally buckle down and study real hard and maybe get into a good college,” Ward told her. Thursday after school Beaver and Yvonne were walking home when she told him something he didn’t like. “I have to go to Adams Street tomorrow.” “You do?” Beaver asked with a little fear then continued. “Why?” “Carrie, my classmate, lives on that street and she has a book that I need for my class. She told me that it’s not a good neighborhood and I shouldn’t go alone.” “Yeah, it is a bad neighborhood,” he told her. “But I’ve been there before, visiting another classmate who moved to San Diego and nothing happened.” “Well, I don’t know if things have gotten better but I want to go with you,” he told her as he held her hand and smiled at her, as she smiled at him. The next day, Beaver and Yvonne walked to their respective homes to drop off their books and wrote a note where they would be and that they would be home by dinner. They got to the house as they waited on the porch since the friend wasn’t home yet. Meanwhile June came home and started reading the note when Ward came through the front door. “Hi dear,” Ward said as June turned and kissed him. “Hi,” she said worriedly. “What’s wrong dear?” Ward asked as he noticed she looked worried. “Beaver left this note saying he will be home for dinner and went to a bad part of town with Yvonne. Now, Ward I want you to go out there and find them!” she demanded as he walked towards the living room and she followed. “No. I think he’s being chivalrous to care about a girl he barely even knows. When he gets home, I will ground him for going there since it’s still a bad neighborhood,” Ward said as he sat down on the couch to read the paper as June sat on the table in front of Ward. “But Ward, my baby might get hurt,” June said worriedly. “June, he is 14 years old and he is no longer a baby,” he told her as she sat on the arm of the chair and put her head on his shoulder. “I know Ward but he’s still a my baby.” Yvonne’s friend finally came home as they got the book and they both started for home. They walked for ten minutes when they were stopped suddenly by four boys. They were about 17 years old, they got in front of Yvonne and Beaver, blocking their path home near the park. It was already dark, dinner was ready at their homes and their parents started to worry. “What are you doing here?” Ron hissed with a question. Ron wore black pants, a white shirt, a leather jacket and a large chain around his neck. “We are going home, my girl needed a book from her classmate,” Beaver replied as the boys surrounded Beaver and Yvonne. “Why didn’t you ask your pop to drive you, missy?” another boy, Marcus grinned. Marcus was missing one tooth and had a chip in another one. Marcus was missing a tooth and had a chipped tooth “Because we didn’t want to,” Yvonne told them. “What book was it? Little Red Riding Hood?” Jeff sneered as the boys laughed. Jeff had a black baseball cap that was backwards, a tattoo on his neck and the boys were very angry looking. “Doesn’t matter, this is our neighborhood and you are trespassing,” Andy, another boy said as they punched his fist to his hand and glared at Beaver and Yvonne. They stood back to back to try to defend each other. Yvonne’s knees knocked and Beaver had some sweat creeping onto his brow. |

“You aren’t going to hit a girl, are you?” Yvonne asked as she felt scared.
“Yeah, you both are trespassing, remember?” Marcus said while he rolled up his sleeve and Ron punched his hands. Even though they both were on the sidewalk, the boys were just bullies who frightened the kids. Suddenly, they heard a voice call them from the street and a car honk, as everyone turned towards the street. “Yvonne, Theodore!!” “Oh, it’s my dad!!” she said as they ran to the car then they got in and Yvonne’s dad drove off while he burned rubber. Yvonne and Beaver locked the doors after they dove in. “And don’t you ever come back!!” Andy shouted. “Thanks, Dad,” Yvonne said, but she knew she was in trouble; Beaver thought about what he was going to say to his parents. Nothing was said on the way to dropping off Beaver at his home. Marc and Yvonne went home as both Yvonne and Beaver knew they were in trouble. On the way home, they exchanged nervous looks and part of the time they looked out the window. Beaver walked in through the door, as Ward and June walked towards him to greet him. “So you finally came home!!” Ward said angrily. “Yeah, Dad.” “I’m so glad you are okay Beaver,” June said as she gave Beaver a hug. “Beaver, you have—.” “Ward, let’s eat first then you can yell at him,” June said. “Mom, I’m sorry.” After dinner, Ward helped June with the dishes while Beaver was in his room doing his homework. “Ward, I don’t want you to be too hard on him,” June told him. “June, he went to a bad part of town with a girl for a book. And he’s going to be grounded for two weeks.” “I know dear but maybe he loves the girl and I think one week is enough,” June said as Ward finished drying the last plate. “Fine, one week,” he said as they walked into the living room, Ward walked past the big chair and June walked to the couch. After June sat on the couch, Ward went to the den to do some work when the phone rang. “I’ll get it in here, dear,” Ward said. “Okay dear,” June replied as she read the paper. “Hello? Yes, this is Mr. Cleaver. Hi Marc, how can I help you?” Ward said as he sat in the chair with his elbow on the arm rest and hand on his leg then continued, “What? No Beaver didn’t say anything about that. I see, okay, thank you for letting me know. Have you told your wife about this? I might not tell June about this either, that just is too scary. Thank you for letting me know. Bye.” Ward then went upstairs to Beaver’s room to have a talk with him. “Hi Dad. I just finished my homework,” Beaver said as Ward closed the door behind him. “Good.” “Something wrong, Dad?” Beaver asked as Ward sat in the chair next to the desk as Beaver looked at his father. “Beaver, I’m going to ground you for one week, you come home straight to your room, no going out with your friends,” Ward paused then continued, “And I got a call from Yvonne’s dad.” “Yeah?” Beaver looked up as he said nervously. “Yvonne’s father called me and told me that you and Yvonne were in real trouble with some bullies. I don’t ever want you going to that part of town at night.” “You know about that Dad?” Beaver asked, realizing he was really going to get it. “Let this be a lesson to you and I am glad you and Yvonne didn’t get hurt,” Ward said as he got up and walked over to Beaver. “I’m sorry that I scared you and Mom.” “I know,” Ward said as he patted Beaver on the back then continued as he walked towards the door, “Uh, let’s not say anything to Mom about this, okay?” “Okay Dad,” Beaver said then Ward left for the den as Beaver sat on the chair looking at the homework he did. June went to a women’s club meeting a few days later and she and a few of the women won a prize in a raffle. She was in the kitchen when Beaver walked through the door. “So Beaver, how was school?” June asked as she took out some pots. “It was good.” “Beaver, I want to surprise your father that I won a car in a raffle today,” June said. “You did? He won’t let you keep it,” Beaver said. “What makes you say that?” June asked shocked. “I don’t know but he didn’t let me keep the car that I won in a raffle a few years ago.” “Beaver! You were and are still too young to drive and that car would be sitting in the garage,” June said annoyed. “Yes, Mom,” Beaver said as he left for his room and Ward walked through the door. “Hi, dear,” Ward said happily as he gave June a kiss. “Hi.” “How was your day?” Ward asked. “Good, I have some news for you,” June said as they both sat down on in the kitchen chairs. “What, you didn’t spend any money?” Ward asked wittily. “Well, in a way yes. I won a car in a raffle.” “You what?!!” Ward shouted angrily. |

“I won a car in a raffle and I want to keep it,” she told him firmly.
“Well dear, I want to see it. I will have to talk to Ted, the insurance man about it as well,” Ward said, then he realized how happy she was. “Oh,” June said in disappointment as she looked away. “Well dear, remember when Beaver won that car in the raffle, we had to pay taxes on it even if I did sell it. The money did get a bit tight because of that but, we got through it,” Ward said. June somberly told Ward that dinner was ready and that Beaver should come down and eat. “Okay dear,” Ward said. Beaver figured June told Ward about the car because they were awfully quiet and she didn’t even talk to Ward. After dinner, Ward and June quietly finished the dishes while Beaver did his homework. Twenty minutes after Ward went in the den, June was knitting in the living room, and Beaver went to see Ward. Beaver peered in the den and saw Ward was doing some work, then peered in the living room to see what June was doing then headed back to the den. “Dad?” Beaver asked as Ward looked up and Beaver walked towards the side of the desk. “Yes Beaver?” “I think you should let Mom have the car,” Beaver said as Ward leaned forward with his arms on the edge of the desk. “What’s this?” “Well, I think you should let her have the car and maybe she can take me to school and stuff,” Beaver said. “Well Beaver, this is between your mother and me. But I appreciate what you said and I’m sure your mother would appreciate what you’ve said.” “Thanks Dad,” Beaver said as he walked out of the den, back to his room as Ward sat back and thought about what Beaver said. A few minutes later Ward walked into the living room then sat next to June, who put her needles and yarn down and looked at him. “Okay June, when do I get to see the car you won?” June looked at Ward then felt his forehead, which was normal. “What has made you change your mind?” “Well, I was just thinking that you could probably pick up Beaver or go to the store without me having to go with you,” he said. “Oh Ward!! But isn’t Beaver going to be upset?” June said then asked. “No dear, I don’t think there will be a chance of that.” “So we can see the car tomorrow since its Saturday,” June said as she hugged and kissed Ward. The next day while Beaver was out with friends, Ward and June went to look at the car then she brought it home. When Beaver came home he told June he liked her car and was happy that Ward let her have the car and June was happy that Beaver didn’t mind. Since Beaver had started going out with Yvonne, June invited her to dinner with them one night so they could get to know her as he felt he was really in love. “June, I don’t think you should have invited Yvonne because we don’t know if he will break up with her later.” “Oh Ward, I just want to know who these girls are who are in a relationship with Beaver,” June said. “June, my mother didn’t invite all the girls I have dated, heck you were the only one she invited because I talked about you a lot.” “Well, when I dated boys, I got invited to their mother’s house even though it didn’t work out,” June said. A few evenings later, Beaver was doing homework, Ward and June were on the living room couch where June was knitting and Ward was reading a book. “So what does Yvonne want to have?” Ward asked as he looked up to June. “She wants to have chicken, carrots and pasta.” “Good, Beaver okay with that?” Ward asked then he went back to reading. “Yes, he was there when she told me.” The doorbell rang as Ward got up since June was still knitting but she looked up as he walked towards the door. Ward opened the door and was surprised to see who it was. “Hello, Ward.” “Hi,” Ward said as he got her bags and in the house then closed the door. “Who is it dear?” June asked as she looked towards the door. “Aunt Martha, dear.” “Ward Cleaver that isn’t funny!!” June admonished Ward even though she thought that voice sounded familiar. Aunt Martha walked over to the living room where June saw that Ward wasn’t joking, then put her yarn down and went to hug her while Ward called Beaver. “Beaver!” Ward yelled out. “Yes, Dad?” “Come down here a minute.” Aunt Martha sat on the couch as she spoke to June. “I saw a car parked on the street and the one in the drive way, do you have company?” Martha asked. “No, Aunt Martha. I won the car in a raffle and Ward is going to let me keep it.” “Oh,” Aunt Martha said surprised as she smiled towards Ward who was walking towards the landing of the stairs. “Sure Dad.” Beaver yelled down then continued to himself, “I hope no one ratted me out when I put dirt in a girl’s locker.” “Beaver,” Ward said as Beaver tried to scan his father’s face as he came down the stairs but he couldn’t tell because Ward was smiling. “Want something Dad?” Beaver said. “We have a surprise visitor from Riverside,” Ward said as he and Beaver walked to the living room, Ward sat on the chair as Beaver walked over to Aunt Martha. “Oh hi Aunt Martha. When did you get here?” Beaver asked surprised. “I took a cab from the airport and just got here,” she told him then continued, “I know I saw you a few months ago but you sure look like a Bronson.” Ward was reading when he heard the remark then rolled his eyes behind the book so Aunt Martha wouldn’t see and June smiled nervously as Beaver looked at them. Beaver went upstairs to do his homework; Ward went to the den to continue reading to let Aunt Martha and June talk privately. Beaver came downstairs a while later to talk to Ward as he closed the den doors. “Dad, can I ask you something?” Beaver ask as he stood at the front of Ward’s desk, Ward had a feeling about what Beaver was going to ask. “Well, if Aunt Martha is going to be here for week, maybe we should talk to Mom about having Yvonne coming over after Aunt Martha leaves.” “I was just thinking of that. I’ll talk to your mother and see what she says but be prepared that Yvonne’s invitation won’t get postponed.” “Thanks Dad,” Beaver said as he opened the doors and left for the kitchen to get something to eat. A few hours later, Aunt Martha was in the guest room sleeping, Beaver in his room asleep while Ward and June talked in bed. “June, I think we should postpone Yvonne’s invitation to dinner until after Aunt Martha leaves,” Ward said as he slid under the covers as June looked at him. “Oh, Ward. I think everything will be fine and I don’t want to seem rude to Yvonne’s parents by postponing the invitation.” “June, you won’t be rude, just explain that Aunt Martha made a surprise visit and you need to postpone the invitation,” Ward said as he turned off the light. “No. Everything will be fine. Good night dear,” June said as they both kissed each other and snuggled under the covers. |

Two days later at the dinner table—
Ward and June sat at the ends of the table, Aunt Martha sat on the side with the window to her back and Yvonne and Beaver sat next to each other across from Aunt Martha. “So how long have you lived in Mayfield?” Aunt Martha asked as everyone took a bite, and Ward and Beaver looked on nervously. “I’ve been in Mayfield since I was 7 years old. My parents, brother and I moved from France when I was 7.” “Oh, what city were you born in?” Aunt Martha asked. “In Paris, France, my parents and brother were also born there. When my parents moved here they became U.S. Citizens and recently my brother did the same thing,” she said with a smile. “Oh I see,” Aunt Martha said but wasn’t happy that Beaver was dating a French girl. She noticed Beaver had a nervous look on his face as he took a bite, then they all finished their supper. “Mrs. Cleaver, would you like me to help you with the dishes?” “No, thank you Yvonne but Mr. Cleaver can help me.” “I want to help you June, after all, I’m sure Ward is very busy,” Aunt Martha said then suggested as she gave a stern look to Ward. “Well, okay Aunt Martha, if you want to help me. Would that be okay, Ward?” June said then asked him as she looked at him. “Oh, that’d be fine, dear,” Ward said as he smiled then Ward, Beaver and Yvonne were excused as Aunt Martha and June did the dishes. Beaver and Yvonne went up to Beaver’s room to talk about school and the dinner. Yvonne sat on the chair near the book case and Beaver sat on the chair at his desk. “How do you think you will do in school?” Beaver asked. “I think I’ll do well. I love English. How do you think you will do?” “I think I’ll do okay, my dad says I just have to buckle down and study,” Beaver said. “Your mom cooks good food, Theodore,” Yvonne said. “Thanks. She is a good cook.” “I’m going to see if my mom will pick me up or if maybe your dad can take me home,” Yvonne said as she left the room. As Yvonne took her final step on the stairs, she walked to the den, where Ward was doing some check writing for bills. “Hi Mr. Cleaver.” “Hello Yvonne, what can I do you for?” Ward asked as he looked at her while she stood at the side of his desk. “Should I call my dad to pick me up?” “No, actually your dad just called and he’s on his way,” Ward said with a smile. “Thank you Mr. Cleaver,” she said as she walked out to the steps when she heard Aunt Martha talking about her. She looked into the kitchen and saw Aunt Martha and June’s backs facing the door as they were finishing the dishes. “Aunt Martha please, I like Yvonne. She’s very nice to Beaver and Beaver seems to have done better in school since he started dating her.” “But she is from France,” Aunt Martha said. “So, Ward and I think the world of her and I had dated other guys before I met Ward.” Yvonne quietly went upstairs to tell Beaver her dad was on the way. Ten minutes later Yvonne and Beaver came downstairs as they were called by Ward who had let Marc in. They greeted Yvonne’s dad as they said their goodbyes. A few minutes later, Beaver went upstairs as he tried to figure out why Yvonne seemed distressed. He sat on his chair as he looked at the wall thinking about Yvonne, wondering if maybe Ward had upset her without meaning to. At school, Beaver went to see Yvonne, but things seemed to change, she would ignore him or brush him off when he tried to talk to her. It went on for a few days then they both talked in the hall after school. “Hi.” “Hi,” Yvonne said as she looked down. “What’s wrong? Did I do something wrong?” Beaver asked. “No, Theodore, it’s not you. I just want to go out with other guys.” “Oh,” Beaver said shocked as Yvonne walked away and Beaver walked slowly home. Beaver came home unhappy as he saw Ward was in the den; he asked to talk to him while he closed the sliding doors. “Dad?” “Yes Beaver?” Ward asked as he looked up and noticed Beaver’s unhappy expression. “When you dated girls, have they ever told you they didn’t want to go out with you anymore?” “Yes I have,” Ward responded. “What did you do?” Beaver asked. “I just let them go so they can do what they want. There’s really nothing you can do about it though, Beav. Something happen between you and Yvonne?” “I don’t know Dad. I mean she said she wanted to go see other boys and I thought she and I were getting along good.” “I’m sorry Beaver. Your mother and I really liked her,” Ward said. “Thanks Dad,” Beaver said as he opened the doors then went upstairs as Ward went back to work. A few hours later they began eating as the ladies were wondering what was wrong with Beaver as he didn’t feel much like talking. At the malt shop the next day— Beaver went to buy malt as he sat in a booth where there was a boy and a girl in a booth behind him as he listened on a conversation since his name was mentioned. “What’s going on with Beaver? Why aren’t he and Yvonne going out?” the boy asked. “The reason Beaver isn’t going out with Yvonne is because of Beaver’s stupid aunt who doesn’t like people from France,” the girl said then continued, “She overheard the aunt and mom in the kitchen when they were doing dishes and the aunt didn’t approve of Yvonne. “Oh come on, dumping a boy because of someone’s aunt. The aunt needs to mind her own business, how did Beaver’s parents feel about Yvonne, that’s what counts,” the boy said then asked. “They adored her.” Now that Beaver knew why she had dumped him, he went to her house as she was home with her new boyfriend, who was at the table with his book. “Hi. Can I talk to you for a minute?” Beaver asked. “Sure.” “I overheard something at the malt shop today and it was about us,” Beaver said then continued, “I’m sorry you overheard my aunt saying something to my mom. I still like you and I don’t care what my crummy aunt says, besides she’s going home in a few days. “Oh.” “My dad and I wanted to have you come another time but my mom wouldn’t hear of it. I guess she didn’t think it’d be a problem with my aunt. So I just wanted you to know that I’m sorry,” Beaver told her quietly. “It’s okay Beaver, I don’t think it would have mattered anyways. I got the sense she didn’t like me when I walked in,” she told him. Beaver went home as he felt a bit better and, wished his aunt would go home sooner then planned. June came into Beaver’s room as she closed the door behind her. “Beaver, I overheard something today when I was in the pharmacy.” She told him then continued, “I overheard some kids saying that Yvonne overheard me and Aunt Martha talking about you dating Yvonne. I’m sorry Beaver, do you want me to call her?” Beaver pretended to look shocked. “No, that’s okay Mom. I heard somewhere she already has a boyfriend.” June gave Beaver a kiss on the forehead then a bit later Ward came up to say goodnight to him; an hour later everyone went to bed. Saturday morning arrived as June cooked breakfast for Aunt Martha, Beaver and Ward as the men were happy that Aunt Martha was leaving. “So, you going to take Aunt Martha to the airport, Mom?” Beaver asked as he put butter on his bread. “Yes I will.” “Great,” Ward said happily as Beaver smiled. A while later, June and Aunt Martha left for the airport while the men talked. “What will you do today?” Ward asked as he took a bite. “I don’t know, I might call Larry up,” Beaver said as they finished their breakfast. “Are you doing okay after Yvonne?” “Yeah Dad, I think I am. Well, maybe.” “Come on, let’s go for a walk. You can talk about it, if you want.” “Ok. Dad,” Beaver said as they both got up and left the room. They left for a walk in the cool morning air, and Beaver found it rather refreshing. |
