Someone Will Die on "The Cleveland Show"

It’s rare that an animated series kills off one of its own. Remember the brouhaha when The Simpsonssnuffed neighbor Maude Flanders back in 2000? Fox’s Family Guy spin-off, The Cleveland Show, may be offing a character, but first there’ll be happier events.

In Cleveland’s September 27 premiere, the Griffins will travel to Stoolbend, Virginia, to attend the wedding of their longtime neighbor Cleveland Brown and his high-school sweetheart, Donna. Then the first season finale will find the Griffins returning to Stoolbend for the remarriage ceremony of Cleveland’s parents, former college football player Levar “Freight Train” Brown (voiced by The Office’s Craig Robinson) and Evelyn “Cookie” Brown (Frances Collier), whom we will first meet in The Cleveland Show’s Thanksgiving episode.

Where’s Cleveland’s ex-wife, Loretta, in all of this? “In the middle of the season, Glenn Quagmire, who had an affair with her, will be the messenger of some tragic news about Loretta,” says exec producer Richard Appel. “The question for Cleveland will be how invested can he be in anything that happens to your ex when you’re newly remarried?”
