The Vampires Diaries has cast A Different World actress Jasmine Guy, but she won't play a vampire, a show rep tells TVGuide.com.

Guy, 47, will play the grandmother of Bonnie (Katerina Graham), who has discovered that she comes from a long line of witches.

Ratings: Vampire Diaries premiere sets CW record

Guy also played Roxy Harvey in Bryan Fuller's short-lived series Dead Like Me.

That should be interesting. I've never seen Jasmine Guy in a dramatic role.
