Hey, Just the other day I was watching the episode "The Benefit" on DVD and got to wondering.
Doesn't Lucy seem to act like she's in charge of the whole thing? Because there was a scene in which it seemed she was making all of the decisions herself and it wasn't her shw it belonged to the club that Ethel belonged to. Because remember the scene when where fighting over the horse costume. You can see that Ethel hated being th back end of that horse and she didn't want to do it. Then Lucy got mad a Ricky when he just gave a small part in a song and she demanded him to bring her another song because she says "You bring me another song tomarrow or just dun't come home!" then she starts barking at him. Also, when Fred brought home the sheet with some jokes on it she got mad because Ricky had all the funny lines for himself and threatened to not do it with him. Then after Ethel finally begged her to sing she changed the jokes just she she can have some of the lines. I'm not knocking this episode or this show I was just wondering what other people thought. And I know Lucy was aways trying to get into Ricky's act. |

Yeah, she did seem a little "overberring" in that episode, but I think she did tend to be that way when trying to get into the act. She just pushed so hard when trying to prove her "talent" to Ricky in particular, which was a big part of the humor, but I do agree that certain episodes she does take the bull by the horns more so then in others. She also did that in Lucy and Ethel buy the same dress when she mapped out what each person would do and when. This was also the same episode when she totally manipulated Ricky into MCing the show and this time he never found out! She was clever with that one...LOL!

I find myself kind of always tending to side with Lucy because she Ricky was always a little mean to her in regards to letting her be in the show. When she got a shot to do something (like Ethel and Lucy wear the same dress) she really did "take the bull by the horns". I could see that in "The Benefit" as well.
