Bonanza turns 50 today! Happy Anniversary Bonanza! Hope you will still be on the air for another 50 years!

Wow! I was twelve years old when the Cartwrights first rode into our living
room (in 1959). It's still my favorite TV western (although lately, via DVD,
Gunsmoke has also earned a measure of my admiration and respect).
The western is still a great genre. Too bad the TV networks have forgotten
this timeless form of entertainment. In the late fifties and early sixties, the
western was, in fact, the most prevalent type of television show. They were
all over the dial. Hard to believe that today there isn't even one western series (and hasn't been in years).
