Default I Love Lucy in Color

Do you think they'll ever colorize the rest of the series and would it be cool if they did? I know they colorized three episodes "Lucy Goes To Scottland, LA, At Last, and Christmas special form Season 6". I've never seen the LA, At Last colorized version I just read it somewhere that they colorized it but the colorized version was lost.

So, do you think if the did it the same way the did the Scottland episode the could colorize the whole series and recolorize the Christmas episode? Maybe they could release a colorized version of the series but still sale the original black and white version to so, people can decide if they want the Colorized version or the original version.

The I Love Lucy DVD set only has the Scotland episode colorized, thru an extra features disc. The colorized Christmas episode is not included, and I haven't heard anything about "L.A at Last" being in color in any form. Computer artists can color a black-and-white episode through various programs, but it often costs money and time. To do it with all 194 episodes (Lucy-Desi Comedy Hour included) seems more of a waste of time than an actual benefit.

Besides, I think the black-and-white color helps preserve I Love Lucy. I believe that the black-and-white era of television was a time of innocence, when you didn't have grueling cop shows containing violence or dirty jokes being spewed out from the comedians. Like it or not, I Love Lucy represents a simpler, more innocent time in America's history. Thanks to the wise decision to have it shown on high quality film and released on DVD, it needs to be kept safe for all time.

I can't speak for the entire series set release, but my season 6 release has the colorized scenes from the Christmas episode as part of the bonus features. I remember when this first aired in color and how nice I thought it looked. Seeing it now, and seeing how far colorization has come, it looks like someone did a messy job with crayons! It is what it is, a novelty but nothing more. The original b&w is still better!

I have the colorized and B&W version of the I Love Lucy Christmas special. I do like the color version of that episode, but I do prefer the B&W for the show because to me it's true to it's time...JMO.

From what I have read, there are VHS copies out there that have the 'colored' version of the I Love Lucy Christmas special. I was watching one of these on Youtube and I quickly realized that the 'flashbacks' during the episode were NOT shown in color. That would of been a treat to see some of the best moments of I Love Lucy in color. Wouldn't you agree?

I could probably go for a special of "Lucy's Greatest moments" in color, but I'm very partial to the B&W. I have to admit it would be really neat to see the Grape Stomping episode for one example in color.

In a way, I would love to see the old shows colorized because Lucy looks so beautiful in those gorgeous outfits and hats of hers. But, on the other hand, colorizing the shows would spoil the ambience of them too. Except for the occasional glimpse of color, I would prefer to stick with the old B&W standard versions.
