The Jerry Strickland and Missy Munday segment

Does anyone know if it was shown on SPIKE?

No, don't think so, justin. All the Spike segments seem to have counterpart files on the unsolved.com website, and Munday/Strickland isn't one of them (last time I checked, which was roughly a month ago. Then again, all I have is "circlestantive evidence" ).

Yeah, I didn't see it on the UM official site either. However, I have noticed cases on Spike that weren't on the UM site, so I guess we can't rule it out.

I was asking because I'm like 90 % sure the Strickland/Munday story never aired on Lifetime. Then I was watching it again yesterday and it dawned on me that maybe Lifetime didn't show it because Missy was a minor and was not charged along with Strickland. Just a theory.

Really? I was always under the impression that all the segments that have been "revamped" by Spike were all on the site. Interesting. Inconsistency tends to be a trend with Spike, though, I reckon.

One would think the Strickland/Munday segment would be one of those "Lifetime favorites" as it features an adolescent running off with some secretly devious, older man--it almost sounds like the basic plot of at least a quarter of the network's movies. I never thought to think of the minor theory, though. Sounds pretty plausible. Lifetime sure made some interesting decisions over the years. I remember the "Debbie" segment being mentioned in one of the "never shown on Lifetime" threads and an idea being tossed around that its depiction of supposed "female weakness" was the possible reason for its deletion.

I wouldn't have known it either. But one day I was looking for info on some Final Appeals and I realized that none of them were on the official site except for Darlie Routier. Go figure.

Yeah, that was a pretty horrific segment. I have often wondered if the violent nature kept it out of Lifetime's rotation. But I can think of other segments that are pretty violent though, so I don't know if that's the true reason. I always thought it was weird how Stack mentioned that we shouldn't focus on the race of the offender. I guess society was more racist back then.

I really hated Missy Mundae's mother, she was so annoying and didn't seem like a good mother to me.

To be honest everyone interviewed who had anything to do with Missy Mundae seemed to be on some kind of downers or something.

Missy's mother reminded me a lot of an actress that John Waters used in many of his early movies: Edith Massey. She even kind of sounded like her.

Yes. Jerry Strickland was given life sentences and Missy only had to serve a couple months in a juvenile home for testifying against him. In fact, the original update on this case has what may be the funniest moment in UM history as Jerry proclaims his innocence and says there's nothing but "circlestansive evidence" against him.

That sucks that she only had to serve a few months when she was obviously a willing participant.

Yeah, I personally think Missy should have gotten much greater punishment than she did. I for the most part agree with the LE official who said near the end of the segment that she was just as guilty as Jerry was. She set up a man to be killed and had 100 chances afterward to do the right thing, and she never did. Sure, her age at the time of the crime should be considered, but I don't find it to be an excuse.

One interesting note is that Jerry Strickland is the guy RS refers to when he talks about the arrest where the criminal "proudly declared that Unsolved Mysteries was his favorite show." This came during the "150th Solve" feature where RS reviewed some of the more interesting captures and LL reunions.

I agree. She was basically "the getaway driver". She was just as guilty as he was. I wonder what she has been up to in life since she got out of prison?

I, too, have often wondered what Missy Munday is up to these days. I did a google search a couple of years ago and didn't find much.
