Default The Lucy Show The Official Second Season

Hey, does anybody know if The Official Season 2 of The Lucy Show is in the works yet? Because it's been almost 2 months since the first season was released and the second season of "Here's Lucy" is already in the works and it was announced just before the first season came out.

I also, email Gord Lacey from "tvshowsondvd.com" about it a week or so ago and he said that there was no word on it yet. So, do you think the official second season is even the works yet?

Also, how fast do you think they'll be releasing the dvds of The Lucy Show? I looks like every three months for Here's Lucy because the second season is planned for a November 3 release and the first season just came out last month.

I was really hoping we would hear something about Season 2 by now. CBS/Paramount really underestimated how well this would sell. Apparently, sales have been very good and continue to do well. I hope they don't screw this up by having long gaps between seasons. It's best to announce a season a little before the previous season hits the streets so that there is continuance. People will buy the new set and look for the next set. It is the one major fault studios have.

Anyhow, capitalizing on the fact that season 2 is in color, I don't see how they can lose. If we have to wait until next year, I fear fans are going to lose interest and sales for future sets will diminish.

But let's let CBS do the proper thing with remastering, finding promos and commercials......a rushed set won't do any of the fans any good and would hurt sales if word of mouth got out how crappy it was. Maybe by early 2010 we will see it.

MPI and CBS operate on two different levels. for MPI, this is their bread and butter. CBS, a sideline.

Did Lucie Arnaz supply the extras from her mom's personal collection? Thomas J. Watson also had a lot to do with gathering the extras I think. I wonder if they are also involved in Season 2's production on dvd. I just hope a year doesn't pass without another season. That would be dire.

Exactly. One huge difference between the two is that all the Here's Lucy episodes were already remastered several years ago when it was believed Here's Lucy would be released on DVD through Shout! Factory. But prior to the first season release of The Lucy Show, none of the episodes of that series had been remastered. And so far, only those first 30 season-one episodes have been remastered. Remastering episodes is the most time-consuming part of this process. The reason MPI is able to get the Here's Lucy seasons out in quick succession is because they don't have to worry about remastering; it's already been done. There is NO way CBS can get The Lucy Show out that quickly, unless they were to skip the step of remastering the episodes, WHICH WE DO NOT WANT TO HAPPEN. So let's all be patient and allow them to do it right.

It might be interesting to consider CBS' release schedule of I Love Lucy dvd sets

ILL Season 2 - Released 8-31-04
ILL Season 3 - Released 2-1-05
ILL Season 4 - Released 5-3-05
ILL Season 1 (Re-released to a more compact set) 6-11-05
ILL Season 5 - Released 8-16-05
ILL Season 6 - Released 5-2-06
LDCH - Released 3-13-07

One might think the releases for The Lucy Show would follow a similar time frame.

I'm no expert, but I'm thinking it may be difficult to get TLS out that fast. I think all the I Love Lucy episodes were remastered in the early '90s for Nick at Nite, whereas none of the TLS episodes have been remastered (except now for the first season).

Wow! I didn't realize there was such a gap between the final season of ILL and the LDCH. Ugh, we probably won't see TLS complete for a few years then.
