Biggrin Today is International Bacon Day! All Hail its Heart Clogging Goodness!!!

Bring on the bacon Saturday -- International Bacon Day. According to the National Pork Board, Sept. 5 marks the second annual Bacon Day. It was created by Alexa and the Bacon Boys -- a group of bloggers from Colorado. And America's love affair with this pork product has produced some unusual dishes, including bacon cupcakes and ice cream as well as the Bacon Explosion, a recipe for a bacon and Italian sausage loaf that was an Internet sensation.

That pic is absolutely disgusting... I nearly throw up just thinking about "bacon cupcakes" and ice cream *shudders*... Sometimes I get breakfast on the run from McDonald's, and buy a bacon & egg McMuffin, and nearly always I throw away at least 50% of the bacon, because it's all fat... Which, as many people have told me (mainly males), is where the flavour really is, but I definitely don't want, or need, to eat fat for flavour... Even when I go to KFC, the only chicken pieces I'll ask for is the breast piece, and the leg... The latter mainly only for the crispy skin, because a lot of the meat is fat, and awful looking/tasting - like all of KFC's other chicken pieces - and gets thrown away... But I prefer to buy Crispy Strips from KFC anyway lol...

Ditto - I love mayo just as much (if not more) than bacon.

With all the talk on this board about other "deep fried goodness", I wouldn't be surprised!!

All hail bacon!! Love it although I don't eat alot of it. Last week, I was in LA, ran by Pink's before I flew home, got me a hot dog with cheese, chili, and 3 strips of bacon on it!! Awesome!

I love bacon, and believe it or not, it's got ZERO carbs. You shouldn't eat it all the time, but once in a while is okay. Just a little bit of bacon gives so much flavor to a sandwich, which is the way I prefer to eat it!
