Default Nothing against "Golden Girls", but...

Do not get me wrong. "Golden Girls" is a decent program. Funny, witty and groundbreaking. However, they seem to rerun this show to death and it already has all the seasons out on DVD. Come to think of it, it seems to be just about the only show from the '80s that's still being shown in reruns nowadays (that AND "Cosby Show"). What I don't get is why is it they can't bring "Facts of Life" back if "Golden Girls" is doing so well. What I was thinking is instead of all the "Bridezilla" crapola and all the other reality show messes on WE, or instead of constant showings of "7th Heaven" and "Little House" on Hallmark, why not air "Facts of Life" next to "Golden Girls"? Or, how about instead of that "Will & Grace"/"Frasier"/"Less Than Perfect" tripe on Lifetime, keep "Reba" on, then air "Golden Girls" and "Facts of Life"? I don't see how while great '80s shows like "Cosby" and "Golden Girls" get shown all the time, yet "Facts of Life" gets virtually no love and gets passed over for that stupid "Friends" and "Seinfeld" crap! I got a ton of episodes from my cousin, which I am eternally greatful for, and I love watching all the episodes in sequence, but it still angers me that this great show, along with so many other great classic shows, aren't getting any love. To me, they have more to offer than these stupid shows like "Scrubs" and "Friends" where it's basically all about jumping in the sack with the opposite sex. And we get enough Jennifer Aniston in the media, why do we need to see her big head, bony body and insistent wining every single day on TV?!

the most irritating thing about the golden girls reruns is that they show the same 15-20 episodes over and over. there were so many seasons. at least mix it up omg! a lot of reruns are done that way. i dont get it? tv land does the same things with their reruns. so annoying!

Yeah I don't get why reruns are done that way nowadays. I remember hearing on the TV Land forums once that it was cheaper to only show certain episodes and seasons of shows rather than show every episode from every season. I think it just comes down to the almighty dollar, which sucks.

However, this is why part of me is glad FOL isn't on reruns anymore. They would probably suffer the same fate as The Golden Girls; be overplayed with the same 30 or so episodes over and over again plus having everything cut out due to commercial time. I'm already forced to play seasons 1-3 over again because they're the only seasons out on DVD; I couldn't imagine having to do something similar if it came on TV in reruns again.
