Jay-Z wants a serious Hollywood career.

Despite claiming six years ago that he wanted to make movies, the '99 Problems' star has not yet appeared on the big screen but insists it is still in his plans.

When asked if he still wants to make films, he said: "I do. I do. I'm taking my time. It may seem like it's taking forever, but when I do, it's gonna be something added to the genre. I just don't wanna do a couple movies and be gone. I want it to be something that's really important, so I'm taking my time with it. Hopefully when I arrive in Hollywood, I can leave a footprint."

If the rapper - real name Shawn Carter - does give up music to launch a film career, it will be regarded as a massive loss by his peers.

Canadian rapper Drake recently said he is indebted to the hip hop legend - who he worked with on upcoming track 'Off That' - and will never forget how he helped launch his music career.

He explained: "Jay has been one of the most special people to me in this game. I don't think I'll ever forget the nights me and Jay had in the studio, and the things he'll tell me and just the way he embraced me. It's one of the best feelings in my life.

"To have that man in my life and to be able to interact with him and talk to him and, best of all, work with him - there's not a real sentence I can say to describe it."
