Default Shallow people

This is one of my pet peeves. I know not everyone was blessed with great looks. As far back as I can remember, my mom always told me to treat everyone equally, regardless of what they look like or what kind of problems they have. I noticed that attractive people are the most guilty of this. I don't want to label attractive people in general, because not all are like that, but it seems that way at times.

As a result, I am a little hesitant when it comes to attractive women. Even if one shows interest, I assume that she is shallow. I know it's a bit unfair on my part, but considering I've seen so many attractive people that are shallow, I believe my feelings are justified.

Any of you guys dislike shallow people as much as I do?

My self-esteem is way too low for me to be too shallow.

In general, I just hate egotistical people. How does being hot, or rich, or overly intelligent make you more deserving than me?? Seriously.

Yes. I dislike shallow people but there is a particular KIND of shallow person that annoys me; the type of person you can be dating who will constantly compare you to people they find more attractive, telling you that you should change and try to look as much like those examples of more "attractive" people, just so you will be more pleasing to them.

The way I was raised, no one is more deserving than anyone else. A little humility really does go a long way.

Those are the people that deserve to be alone. No two people are alike, not even twins. I would never compare someone to a celebrity and tell them to be like that person. It's down right insulting.

Yes, shallow people bore me. Their entire lives, people tell them how wonderful and great looking they are, so I guess at some point, they start believing it.

I can't stand it when people think they're so much better than everybody else and pick on those who are different than them. I know I have a disability and I'm not good-looking, but is that any reason to treat me poorly?

I agree. Some people are down right cruel. I don't associate with those types of people.

my first boyfriend mike was very shallow and conceited. we were both equally good looking but having been an ugly duckling when i was younger i was humble about my vanity because i knew how it felt to be at both ends of the spectrum. mike on the other hand acted like he was God's gift to women. he was so in love with himself and his ego was further driven by the fact he was an "actor". after that, sounds cliche, but i really became attracted to a man's personality instead of looks.

Shallow people aren't worth talking to in my opinion. So if I'm talking to a person, and I start to feel like they are that way, then I just choose not to associate with them from that time on. It's worked pretty good for me so far.

Wow, Kim, he sounds like an idiot.
And I don't think it's cliche at all... when I meet a guy who has a really awesome personality... it improves his looks by like, ten times!

My dad was the same way when he was my age, and he's still like that. Sad part is many women will fall for it.

I think some shallow people would be better off if there were less attractive. It would give them some humilty (or however you spell it).
